He deserves a multi game suspension for his head hunting. I missed the hit during the game but I watched the hit several times on the Time Warner sports channel telecast later that night ( which was pretty good quality by the way). There was no way he wasn't targeting the head area during a blind side check. Checking is part of the game but not what this guy does. I never see him in the corners competing for the puck or competing in front of the net for position. He is usually just skating around looking for a chance to "hit somebody" as is often screamed out by some in attendance.
The ECHL on Tuesday announced the following fines and suspensions.
Cincinnati’s Turgeon fined, suspended
Cincinnati’s Tony Turgeon has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #272, Elmira at Cincinnati, on Dec. 21.
Turgeon was assessed a match penalty for illegal check to the head under Rule #48.5 at 14:21 of the third period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline.
Turgeon will miss Cincinnati’s games at Evansville (Dec. 27) and at Toledo (Dec. 28).
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.
