The LV Wranglers were notified that their lease at Orleans Arena will not be renewed. Their current lease expires at the end of this season.

There are two other potential arenas which could house the Wranglers, but neither is ideal. The Thomas and Mack Center which housed the IHL team is too big and showing its age and the South Point Casino facility may be a bit small (4600 capacity). Nonetheless, something is better than nothing.

The set up at the Orleans was great. The trip out there in '08 was a blast. Hopefully they'll get something figured out. It's a little lame that the casino waited so long to notify them. |

We went to their 2003 opener at the Orleans and to three games this season. Orleans was a perfect size arena for ECHL level crowds. Sure hope they don't leave Las Vegas. |

I thought " what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas: at least thats what I have been praying for since the '08 Kelly Cup trip !! If they have to leave Vegas though, I hope they find a way to locate in San Diego. Lived there in the early 90s when they had an IHL team and the arena and fan support was great. Never understood why the ECHL can't get in there. Nice distance from the Kings and Ducks and lots of transplants from hockey hotbeds with the military presence.
In Vegas my guess is that the Orleans owners found that very very few fans who go to the games stop in the Casino before or afterwards. It isnt that they are looking to fill up the arena with fans, they are looking to fill it up with gamblers and I don 't think that was happening.
My wife and I know from first hand knowledge the fans of the Wranglers are clearly seen in the casino, bars and restaurants before and after the games. Like their minor league baseball team (Met's AAA )few people on the strip know they even exist. New arenas are being proposed daily out there in hopes of a NBA or NHL team moving in. Doubt either one due to gambling issue but Las Vegas citizens will support a hockey team. Your knowledge sounds like San Diego would also be another west coast site and would mate with Vegas for fan rivalry also. |

Here is another main reason for Wranglers not drawing more: 2013-14 Individual Game Ticket Prices
LEVEL...............Adult..................Youth
Glass...............$40....................---
Select Circle.......$30....................$6
Premium.............$23....................$6
Mardi Gras..........$19.75.................$6
Kid friendly-hardly adult for ECHL level hockey

Don't think that attendance is the issue. Even with our attendance of 13K last night, Las Vegas still is outdrawing us by about 200 per game in a regional market smaller than ours ( doubt that many vacationers are there for hockey games) so their ability to draw can't be the reason. Perhaps it is they couldn't agree on the terms of the lease i.e how much of the gate, concessions, etc go to the team and how much to the arena. Big benefit to have a situation like ours where the owners are also the landlords.
I think we have to have one of the lowest ticket prices in the league. Bengals coming on so dont have time to do the research. |

We're pretty spoiled here with ticket prices. Cyclone prices are even less than most SPHL teams. I feel fortunate that we have the prices we do.
Another thought on the Orleans Arena could be potential casino expansion. Does anyone know if the casino would prefer to do away with the arena and expand their gaming and entertainment venues with that valuable real estate? It may be much more profitable.
Either way, it would be unfortunate to lose the Wrangler. |

Thanks for posting that, Bags. If my public school math is correct, they're charging $20 per adult ticket. Pretty pricy for AA sports. Again, we're pretty fortunate here. |

That's why I brought the prices up. Even though it's "Las Vegas", we're talking about a AA level hockey team playing off the strip. Fans for these games are generated by the working people of Las Vegas, not the "whales"! Cut $5 off each ticket and attendance would probably go up by 1500. By the way, Las Vegas attendance figures rank up there with old Dayton numbers. I guarantee we are averaging 500 more per game then they are. Over the years I've seen about 15 games out there and attendance numbers make everyone out there laugh ! |

Not sure how they did it (promotion way) but Las Vegas is showing they can draw a crowd in Las Vegas: http://www.lasvegaswranglers.com/news/wranglers-beat-reign-in-front-of-alltime-high-of-7786-fans/ Las Vegas – The Las Vegas Wranglers rode a two-goal first period to a 5-2 win over the Western Conference Leading Ontario Reign on Friday night. In front of an all-time record 7,786 fans, Vegas goaltender Travis Fullerton stopped 47 of 49 shots on the night in his first win since Dec. 11, 2013. Before anyone says we beat that, Las Vegas doesn't have an upper deck to add any more like we can. This was a crowd like our final game Cup win against the Wranglers. |

Vegas Falls in Shootout on First Ever “UNLV Night” Las Vegas – The Las Vegas Wranglers recognized the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and The Dave Rice Foundation on Friday Night in front of 5,572 fans, but fell 4-3 to the visiting Utah Grizzlies in a shootout. Las Vegas donned specialty “UNLV Rebels” jerseys in the defeat, which was their fourth straight and ninth in their last 12 games.
Funny how "1st ever UNLV Night" comes at time when team needs an arena for next year and UNLV has the next best one. Hope Wranglers can find a home for next year and keep playing in the Las Vegas area. We all know how empty it feels when the team shuts down a year or more. Just ask the Toledo fans also. |

I'll try and make this short and simple since the Wranglers are not the Cyclones. The wranglers are moving to the Plaza hotel downtown to a new arena to be built before next year. The owner has signed a 5 year contract so this is a long term plan. The plan is for a 3500 seat arena (too small I think) which sounds like Dayton's Hara arena type. http://www.jrn.com/ktnv/news/Las-Vegas-Wranglers-find-a-new-home-at-The-Plaza-Hotel--Casino-245655671.html By the way, don't complain about our teams play- the team's wives could probably give the Wranglers a run for their money ! |

3500 does sound small. Seems like around 5k would be ideal. |
