We have now played 16 home games. In the first 11 we scored 20 goals in regulation. In the last five we have scored 25. I for one am not getting tired of Burritos |

I can't believe how skittish some people were getting about the offense.
Anyone could see it was just a matter of time before they hit their scoring strides.
Enjoy your burritos, dbc. Remember that patience is a virtue. |

It is good to see but the PP is still troubling! |

When a team has skilled players offense will find a way. I've got to hand it to Luciani who has really stepped up his game this season. The kid always had a offensive touch but he's picked up his defensive game posting a +11.
While the offense has certainly been on fire, let's also give a nod to the defensive play. There are only 2 players on the roster with minus ratings; Adam Brace at -1 and Jeremie Malouin at -9 (I should point out the Jeremie was -11 on a terrible Gladiators team but in his 5 games with Cyclones has gone +2).
Looking at the schedule and playing a gmae of "what if" think about where this team would be if they could score on the PP. There are 9 games in the books in which the Cyclones didn't take 2 points either losing in OT/SO or in regulation by 2 goals or less. Even if they had 9 of those 18 points they'd be sitting on top of the League with 57 points.
In spite of this teams "softness" they keep finding ways to win and you've got to love it. |

I think the power play at home has looked much improved since the beginning of 2014. Away they are at 17.3% or about 1/6 which puts them 6th out of the 22 teams. Teams usually try to have a PP conversion rate of 15-20% or between 1/5 and 1/7.
At home they are still dead last at 5% but in 2013 this team was a remarkable 0/50 at home on the PP!! Thus far this year they are 3/9 or 33% which, based on such a small sample, would put them first in the league . More importantly they are creating quality chances and that is all you can ask.
I agree on Luciani. Didn't like his style of play when he first arrived as it was made up of very little defense and lots of one on one offensive moves. He has really become much more of a team player both ways. Loved the Luciani, Crowder, Shalla line last night. Three different type players who really seemed to gell.
By the way, McFadden called to SA today. |

Luciani is simply on fire. If the Florida organization hasn't given up on him, then I can't see how he hasn't earned another look/see in San Antonio. Last season was a lost one for #11 due to injuries. For what amounts to a second season for Luciani, he can't be far off what the Florida Panthers envisioned when they drafted him.
I don't think this is a soft team anymore. The return of Turgeon, the acquisition of Malouin along with MacDonald and McFadden give this team a decent amount of toughness. Luciani is hitting and Eves is throwing a lot of "Chuck bumps". Hell, even Aronson was chippy at the end of the 5-4 loss to Elmira last night.
I wish that I would have watched the final installment of the "Making the Cut" series before I did. Simon preached physical play to the team in his talk before the opener vs. Wheeling and encouraged it while being "miked" on the bench during the game. He just didn't have a roster which would play physically until recently.
Ever since the Elmira back to back games, this team has been a joy to watch. While last night's game wasn't the Cyclones best, it was an entertaining game to watch and the Clones came within an eyelash of tying it late despite a less than stellar effort from Hauser who was doing a very good Kyle Gajewski imitation |
