Richly deserved.
I hope he can stick in the AHL and advance his career. He's really improved this season.
Good luck to AL!! |

Should have known he was going to leave: Join us THIS FRIDAY for Anthony Luciani Kids Jersey T-Shirt Night presented by U.C. Health! The first 1,500 fans ages 2-12 through the gates at U.S. Bank Arena will take home the slick-looking jersey t-shirt - which resembles the Cyclones alternate black jersey featuring Luciani's #11 on the back! Hate to lose him but proud to see him move up to the AHL. Hope the only way we see him again is if San Antonio doesn't make the playoffs and we can get him back for playoffs.

I thought the same thing. It seems like every time a player has a t-shirt jersey night they get called up and miss that game. |

Just nam3ed player of the month in ECHL!!!.
SA looks like they will not be in the playoffs unless they really turn it around. Lots of scoring for us down there for us for the playoffs.
Some other guys need to step up. |

Dennis (dbc), just for your information you can return to your post and edit the content with the third icon from the left and repost it. Looked like your fingers might have been still frozen from shoveling snow on the first post ! |

Understand that Bags. It was the system that got frozen. After waiting about a minute for the first one to post which it didn't, I posted again and both popped up. You can see they were posted about a minute and a half apart.Besides, great posts about a Cyclone being named player of the month deserve to be posted twice!!
Talking about all the recent goals lost to call ups, during one of the seemingly endless ice clearing time outs last night, I added up the goals thus far this year from the guys who were playing. This was game number 43 last night, and the lineup had 49 YTD ECHL goals. Not a scary lineup.
What is scary though is the team's obviously coached strategy of not leaning on players in their defensive end but rather just playing a passive positional defense. Toledo had the puck for at least 30 seconds behind the net as we passivley followed them around and skated at will with no one competing for the puck. At least three hacks at the puck in front of the net before the goal and not one Walleye on their ass or even leaned on. The coach obviously believes in a passive type defense which is his prerogative but we have now been outshot and out played and out completed for three straight losses at home to divisional teams beneath us in the standings. Two losses at home in four days to the team with the worst record in the conference and we play them passively? |

Thanks Dennis for not getting mad at my post. Just like I find the posts don't like more than one space between characters. This is the reason you find multiple periods between stats in some of my posts to keep the columns in line. Agree w/ your view on our home defense. Never could understand why we play more agressive on the road than at home |

This thread is the essence of what I love about this blog. Some good background on players, some interesting stats, and respect for others. DBC, you can be sure that I will pass along your 43/49 stat around my section at tonight's game. I also agree that now is a great time for the next man to step up on offense. I'm looking at Hazen, Lewis, Eves, or Birkholz to establish themselves. If they don't, I wonder if Simon will have any luck culling the college ranks and finding someone that can contribute. I think this is a great opportunity for someone to make a mark on a playoff capable team. |

Caveney had a very good debut last night with a goal and an assist. He made a heck of a play behind the net by stealing the puck and setting up the second goal. I hope he's one of those scrappy guys with something to prove. This team could use that kind of energy boost.
Eves and Hazen definitely have the ability to assert themselves and turn up the scoring prowess. Let's hope they start tonight.
The defensive zone play could use some attention, too. Toledo possessed the puck for long spells last night and Tuesday and had the Cyclone chasing their tails. |
