The Cyclones sport a very poor 12-13-1 home ice record.

With Tough Tony Turgeon in the line up, the Cyclones are 6-2 at home and a pathetic 6-11-1 at home with him out. Coincidence? I don't think so. This kid puts fear into opponents.

Turgeon has only appeared in 5 road games....Cyclones 3-2 in those.

The new defenseman, Dalhuisen, throws his weight around pretty well and shows some good restraint in not getting roped into retaliation penalties.

The Cyclones have a few players who will throw their weight around in addition to Turgeon and the new guy. MacDonald has always played a physical game.

McFadden and Aronson have really picked up their physical play. I really like both of these guys and have hopes that each will ultimately play permanently at the next level.

The big question mark on McFadden and Aronson probably isn't when they will make it permanently in the AHL it's if their current organizations will have the patience to let them develop? Both are considered "offensive defensemen" which typically take longer to develop. As we've seen, they're all too willing to get the puck up ice but that leads to them being defensive liabilities. I would agree that both have made big strides in this area. If I'm not mistaken, Aronson is in the final year of his entry level deal and McFadden is in his 2nd.

I don't view either as defensive liabilities. Aronson has extremely good judgement in his offensive risk taking. He rarely is caught up ice despite engaging in a lot of offense. McFadden also picks his spots pretty well although not quite as well as Aronson does.

For offensive defenseman/defensive liability, see Pat O'Keefe.

Aronson is in year 4 of his deal, but he signed at the age of 18 allowing for two years of "slide", so he still has a year left after this year. McFadden is in year 2 of his deal, as you said.

I have been highly impressed with Aronson's overall play in both ends this year. I think he's been the best overall defenseman on the team this year. He generates points, plays with increasing grit and sports a very solid +/- relative to others on the team. He has a lot of poise and is very solid in his ability to make good plays in breaking out of the defensive zone. Milwaukee must be very solid on defense for Aronson to not get a shot in the AHL. He's only 22, which is young for in a dman's development as you pointed out.
