Well Las Vegas made it a game but Alaska beat them 3-2 to sweep the first round. Like the Cyclones, Alaska seemed to be playing to the level of their competition. Alaska has a good mix of size and speed. Big killer with Alaska is the trip to their place and the long return. The goalie I saw was Olivier Roy.Alaska's defense and lack of Wrangler offense never really challenged him. I suspect he might be the kind to get rattled if anyone touches him. Refs let them play and Wranglers goalie got dumped twice with no penalties. During the year I also saw Idaho and Ontario, but again each game featured a weak Vegas team just hanging around. Killed me to see the Cyclones lose Friday night but a four game sweep was not expected. It was for Alaska !
General feelings I heard is everyone is in doubt but hopeful. Imagine if we were told we were moving from USB and moving to a new arena at Horseshoe and the capacity would be 4300. Biggest problem is similar to our last year before the shutdown and the team was left to play out the year. We were disgusted and mad, but at least they have a direct new season plan. We were left to rumors.
