| Wanted to start a new poll, I enjoyed very much last Fridays game. Crowd was good, play was great, overall enjoyable experience. I feel with alittle effort we can have good crowds again. The subject of Cyclones/Ducks/Railraiders is a worse debate than politics or religion, so i'm not into opening up that can of worms however back in 92' my then girlfriend, now wife, took me to my first hockey game at the Gardens. Loved every minute of it, it was a Cyclones game. not that fond of the Gardens. I unlike others on other baords feel its actually inportant to have doors on the bathroom stalls, I actually saw in the upper level bathroom a toliet completly knocked off its base but thats another story. Once The Cyclones left for the Crown, I simply followed. Being a CASUAL hockey fan I never got that wrapped up in "kirchofer did that" or the Robinsons did this" sorta stuff, but as soon as the Enquirer published "Ice Wars" I think the line was drawn on the ice. I'm a Clones fan because thats where it all started for me. I eventually did get wrapped up in all the "Ice wars" stuff and to an extent still have a sore spot for the subject. I also felt it was very surprising for once Cyclones faithful to turn on the Clones and become such devout Duck fans? Never could understand that. Lastly I was fairly prepared to plop money down on the the Railraiders right up until the point that the name and mascot or logo was announced.....I think it was overthought and I just couldn't see myself being a loyal fan, what happened to the eagles or hornets or bears? I've never been a big Bluejackets fans for that same reason. They had over 10,000 suggestions for their name and the best they could come up with is the Bluejackets! The wild, predators, coyotes all cool names, but the railraiders? The logo looked more like a lionel train, sounds stupid, right never felt that a duck could be mighty either! If you think that logos and emblems are not inportant just ask the Dallas Cowboys or the Raiders..their stuff sell millions. Your bored, I'm sure, cannot wait to read the stories |

| I agree SCUBA. I grew up on the Cyclones. Even though they've had several different owners I still love them. Those on other boards will say I only love the name but oh well, screw them. |

| joey...the team is the name. it doesn't matter where they play, or who owns them...they are still the cyclones. |

| Elvis is right. Even with the major leagues, you cheer for the crest. Players come and go, are traded, and in five years, a teams roster is completely different. Thats why I hate it when teams move and change names. Its all lost then. The Carolina Hurricanes are NOT the Hartford Whalers, no matter where they came from. In my opinion, change the name, throw away the legacy. |

| when a team makes a big move like hartford to carolina or quebec to colorado, i don't have an issue with changing names, it represents a new start. if they wanted to keep the same name fine but it would be a bit odd to hear the colorado nordics, or the carolina whalers. i do think that if a team moves and changes names they should keep the old crest on the shoulder or the jersey. in the cyclones case they moved across town. the people that claim that the team playing at the USBA is just called the cyclones are saying that just to try and rally support back to the gardens and the robinson's. sure they team took some time off, but is that a reason to change names...no. that would be like when cleveland got their football team back they would have chosen not to call them the browns...if just wouldn't be right (it's a shame that baltimore can't get the naming rights to the colts back). |

I am a Cyclones fan because they are the first minor league franchise with which I fell in love. I have been a Red Wings fan for a number of years, but I came late (2001) to the minor league scene. I was hooked the first Cyclones game I attended. The rest is history.
You can change arenas and owners, but once you fall in love with the team colors you are with the team forever. And, that is really what this game of ours is all about. It is about flying and supporting and loving the colors.
I love hockey across the board and teams will come and go, but I will die a Cyclones fan. What more can I say? |

Hockey in general: the speed and flow of the game, decisions on the fly. The combination of grace and brutality; finesse and raw guts. Unlike basketball, there is no goal every 30 seconds; unlike football, no huddle after every play; unlike baseball, no zzzzzzzz.
Cyclones in particular: the legacy of Lawless, and Biggs, and Dionne. Of Tom "hop over my stick" Neziol (God rest his soul). Sarg and the pucks he flipped up into section 60. Bringing up my 1st son along with Cyclone games; bringing up my 2nd son on Cyclone games. That one standout play of Biggs to Lawless to Biggs to Lawless and in the net. Those wonderfully ugly old Cyclone jerseys with that goalie hand and stick letter "C".
And now they are back, and doing great! And if they'd just get rid of those damn nets behind the goals, I'd be back sitting in section 60. |

First hockey game was a Swords game on a blind date. Enjoyed the game but not the date. lol
Got free tickets to a STINGERS game and got hit with a puck. After the game and I was leaving, I was approached by man (that I came to know as a player that did not play that night) and asked if I was OK. And sooooooooo my 'addiction' for hockey began. Became a season ticket holder with the STINGERS and new friendships began and experienced the comradery of hockey fans that holds no comparison. I came to learn that hocky players appreciate and respect their fans far greater than other professional sports I had seen. The players were 'approachable' and they valued thier fans. Many a time I would see players take the time to talk to the fans after the game and sign autographs ~ win or lose. Many road trips and LOTS of good memories. Ohhhhhhhhhh the many nights after the games at 'Sleep-Out-Louies'!! LOL
When it was announced that the CYCLONES were setting up, I had season tickets with-in two days and have ever sence. (Over the years, I guess have only missed about a total of 20 home games. But then have made up for those with some of the road trips taken.) When I offered to make the banners that use to hang (at the 'ol' Gardens and (now)USBank Arena I was honored to be able to give something back to the sport that holds so many great memories for me. It was the CYCLONES that gave me my nickname of Banner Lady and I will treasure it always. The comradery of CYCLONES fans and the road trips taken are part of great memories. My Mother still laughs and remembers fondly "throw MaMa from the train" and the friends she made on the trip to Austria.
I look forward to more memories and great times!!!!!!!!! |

| I am a 'Clones fan because I am really a displaced Komets fan and this is the hockey available. After (most of) my first season here, I am really impressed with the team on the ice, if not the organization running it, and have already bought my first full season ticket for next year. That being said, if the Railraiders had happened I would have gone to their games. I was not here for any of this hockey war stuff and I frankly don't care. I love minor league hockey and as long as I have a team to support I couldn't care less what league it is or where they play. |

section 60!!!
i can remember being at games as a kid, refusing to sit anywhere but section 60 cause that's where all the action was. pucks got flipped up by players at the end of warm-ups and then there were the routines/sayings (which i wasnt really allowed to repeat at the time...).... for me the cyclones and section 60 wouldnt be right w/o each other.
also i am a cyclones fan because it's the organization i grew up watching. even though i love hockey the ducks were never a team i could identify with. as far i am concerned cincinnati hockey is cyclones hockey. always has been. always will be. |

I moved back to Cincinnati in 95. I got into minor league sports while living in Indiana. Minor league and minor college sports were popular, mainly because there isn't much to do in many Indiana towns (I can tell you, cow tipping gets old fast). I got into many minor sports at Purdue, and watching the Ice and Indians in Indianapolis. When I moved back to Cincy, it was not only nice seeing the Cyclones draw 8.000+ a night, but seeing so many loyal, knowledgable fans. It was a a lot of fun. I got hooked, and have stuck it out.
I tried getting into the Ducks, but it is not the same. They tried way to hard to get families and kids. And with that, you just get people who want to be entertained, and not people who want to watch hockey. |

i saw my first hockey game when i was 10, USA vs USSR @ the coliseum and i was hooked from the start. a few years later my dad took my brother and i down to the gardens for a 'clones game in their innagural season. i forget who we played but i remember an actual fist fight breaking out between a guy in cyclones jersey and guy in the other teams jersey, this was before there was any real action on the ice.
during the gardens' years, my dad would take me down to 8 to 12 games a year. when the 'clones moved to the coliseum is when i started attending games on a regular basis (having a car and a job allowed me to get down there with friends whenever i wanted). now, i'm season ticket holder and will continue to be one.
during the whole ducks period i went to one game because i recieved tickets from a relative (they didn't know that there were 2 team in the 'nati) and i must agree with the bear on this one...it was the most miserable experience i've ever had watching a hockey game. kids kept blowing those damn quacker things in my ear, i thought i was going to be def by the end of the night.
we had our fair share of hockey teams come and go in cincinnati. in my generation it has been the cyclones. the cyclones brought hockey back to cincinnati, so as far as i'm concerned they will be the only team in town worth watching. |

| Because they are Cincinnati's rightful hockey team, and I have embraced them since day 1 back into 1990, although I did go to my share of Ducks games through the years. |
