He is only signed for 1 year right? If so they better sign him to a new contract before he goes somewhere else.

He's not going anywhere. Why bother with contract negotiations? This season isn't over yet.

I hate to say it but it might be too late. Any team needing a new coach should be looking at Chuck Weber and as much as I would like to see loyalty to the Cyclones his number one loyalty needs to be to himself and his family. I hope we can keep him but I am not holding my breath.

from what was being said last night after the game, it sounds like a lot of the guys including the coaches would like to be back next year. granted a lot can change in five months.

also, ownership had been talking to chuck about another affiliate for next season. i can't see that happening if they did not have every intention of doing what it takes to keep chuck here. from what i've heard, chuck has been on the phones trying to get a second affiliate for the team. again, why would he be doing that leg work for next season if he wasn't planning on being here.

personally, i think he'll be back. the only way i can see him not returning is if he gets an offer to coach at a higher level. still, i'd rather the team make some kind of anouncement regarding not only the negotiations with chuck, but some of the players as well. although, i don't think we'll hear anything until the playoffs are over.

I know we had a great year, finishing farther in a playoff we weren't even supposed
to be in.However,I'm starting to wonder about Chuck Weber and this season.First, the
entire year has been one huge disaster on the power-play.Yes our penalty kill has
been solid for most of the year, but I never saw any real moves to try and fix a very
sub-par power-play that may have cost us the Dayton series.Second,I'm not sure how
much control he had,but I was not happy about every AHL team not affiliated with us
"borrowing" our players when we were fighting for the playoffs. We all took pot-shots
(including me) on Dov,but were we smart to go in the playoffs with a rookie and NO
real backup in goal?Third, all season I saw players making mistakes after mistakes
and ice time was never reduced. How about dumb penalties putting us in a bind, but their
next shift they were right back out there. If Coach Weber is back next year,I hope that
players will be held accountable for their play and less retreating by defensemen and more
attacking on power plays.I'd rather see a shorthanded goal allowed if it means we
had an all-out blitz at the net in an attempt to score.

Actually, Bags, I kind of thought the power play improved markedly during the season, especially helped by Sam's supremely scintillating slap shot (tribute to Terry Ficorelli...). I looked briefly through the old game sheets, and I think it was February that sucked royally, but March and April looked darn good, and we looked pretty good during the playoffs. Anyone know the power play percentage for the season? I couldn't find it on the ECHL site.

Certainly wouldn't call the season a disaster on the power play..

Thanks Surfer-that's not great by any means, but I'd be curious as to what they ranked for just the 2nd half. I wouldn't be surprised if we were dead last the first half of the season.

Interesting. Cincy turned it up a notch during the playoff run.

PP during the regular season: (25 teams)
At Home:
#14 CIN 207/33 15.9%
On the Road:
#20 CIN 217/32 14.7%
Overall:
#20 CIN 424/65 15.3%

PP during the playoffs: (18 playoff teams)
At Home:
#5 CIN 20/5 25.0%
On the road:
#3 CIN 35/7 20.0%
Overall:
#4 CIN 55/12 21.8%

I'll see if I can do a little more digging to find out the first half vs. second half stats.

It definitely wasnt our PP that cost us the Dayton series. It was the inability to play defense the final 3 games and letting Kelly skate all over the ice and the defense not having a clue what was happening.

Kelly does tend to do that on occasion.
