Bombers' coach seeks more effort tonight Dayton trails series, 1-0, wants a home win before the three games in Cincy. By Debbie Juniewicz Contributing Writer Wednesday, April 25, 2007
The game lasted 60 minutes, but the effort did not.
"Not to take anything away from Cincinnati, but we didn't play our best game Sunday," Dayton Bombers coach Don MacAdam said. "The bottom line is competing. We need to make sure the effort is there for 60 minutes."
The Bombers host the Cincinnati Cyclones for Game 2 of the best-of-seven ECHL North Division Finals today at 7 p.m. at the Nutter Center. The Cyclones won Sunday's opener 5-4.
The Bombers' balanced offense, which helped them win the North Division regular-season title, was in place Sunday with nine Dayton players posting a goal or an assist. But the Cyclones also found the net with relative ease, scoring five goals on 21 shots.
"We can definitely do a better job defensively," MacAdam said. "We'll have to."
With the 2-3-2 playoff format in place, protecting home ice is important. Play shifts to U.S. Bank Arena for the next three contests.
If the impending road trip isn't enough motivation for the Bombers, the intense rivalry might provide the extra incentive. The Cyclones returned to the league this season as an expansion team, and games have been fierce.
"It started at the very first game this season," MacAdam said.
Cincinnati coach Chuck Weber knows it will take the Cyclones' best effort tonight to top the Bombers for a second time on home ice.
"Dayton is going to give us everything and the kitchen sink," Weber said. "If we're not ready, we're in for a heap of hurt."

| I expect Dayton to come out flying tonight but, hopefully the clones can match that intensity and steal another victory tonight!! How nice would it be to come home with a 2-0 lead again? |

| I didn't think we played our best game all the time either on Sunday. There were definite lapses. I think the difference was that we were pretty much able to hold off Dayton on their flurries while we fared better on ours. |

The Fan Club President & others will be in 212, just like Sunday. Cheer loud for me-I'll be listening at home!

I wouldn't call it a stolen victory by far. The Cyclones victory was earned. Both teams played very well. Yes, they each had they're lapses, but it was a very well played game on both sides.
Any wins, by either team, are going to be earned in this series, plain and simple.
Hakee's post is right on the money. |

I didn't mean it that way. I was just saying it would be nice to go in there and win again and, they did just that! |
