Getting rid of the bikini contest would be a very bad idea. Admittedly, I don't watch it and couldn't care less about most of the promotions, but getting asses in the seats and not losing money doing it should still be the top priority. The bikini contest is probably the only game some people go to every year, and that's fine, it's better than not going at all, just like that horrid neckcar garbage that we have to tolerate every year, as well as 'faith night'. The organization seems more focused on having a few heavy hitters as far as promotions go instead of trying to get something for every game and losing money on it, and to me that's fine. If the team is financially stable the odds of it staying intact and not folding are increased, and that's bottom line what we all want here. Cyclones I had more attendence but lost money, Cyclones II appears to be learning some things from that.

Don't forget Cyclones 1 (ECHL) was a big hit with great promotions
and sellout crowds. Cyclones II(IHL) went down hill when the Silverbacks
and the Stuff got mixed in. Cyclones III (ECHL) is
looking like the Swarm is about to shaft us again on promos. Minor
league sports are like second run movie houses, they need to work
harder to get their crowds. For every race fan at a Nascar race,
their is an idiot there to see a wreck. Both fans paid money and
helps the sport. If a $1.00 promo puts 2000 more fans in the door,
both sets of fans win.

It sounds like to me that David LeFevre needs to come into town and hold a meeting with the season ticket holders. There's a lot of questions out here. I'm tired of spending every summer wondering if we will have a team here the next season. I'm told the Cyclones will be here next season, and I believe they will. I've also heard that they are making money this season. I don't care if we have giveaways. I'd rather have the team.

I also agree with Clonzfan. The trip to Europe was wonderful. We had a great time. It was definitely something I've never seen another organization do. I have supported the Cyclones for a long time and want to continue. So.....what's up David?

Unfortunately, the company that owns the arena (not the Cyclones, remember) are putting all of their efforts to promote the AF2 team. For now, it seems like the Cyclones have taken a backseat in Nederlander's eyes.

It's frustrating for us but it's also got to be frustrating for the Cyclones, who not only see another team trying to push them out of the spotlight but have also had their ticket reps pulled out from under them to sell Swarm tix.

I agree with Joann. Some form of a meeting with the season ticket holders should be held. Whether it's with Lefevre or Pylypuik, I don't know. But there are a lot of concerns that have to be (and some have already been) brought up to the 'clones.

I'm sure they're aware of what's happening. They know what's going on. But the fact that they know isn't communicated to the fans is the frustrating part.

Again, call Pat or Paul or someone and make them aware that things aren't being communicated to us.

Rambling man... signing off.

I don't see what responsibility the ownership has to answer to people clammoring for their time in a special 'seasonticket holder meeting'. The only thing they have to answer to is making sure there is a team on the ice for this season. If they want to pull the plug and we have all recieved our hockey games for what we paid for, then they really have nothing in debt to us.

I think the problem is the tendency of our loyal fans to feel they need to know everything that is going on and how things are going. Most of that comes from the great, fan-friendly ownership we've had in the past. Some of it is our concern as to how things are going, which honestly makes me wonder at times as well. The club is making money for a change, that was very good to hear. The cause for that revenue is unknown, but apparently not comping tickets and devaluing the product is a good portion of that (does anyone actually buy Ducks tickets? You can get some free almost anywhere, they can't give the damned things away). Are we entitled to see the books or hear the master plan? Of course not. Should we even know what the near future plans are? It'd be nice, but again they have no requirement to do so.

Now before anyone starts bringing the 'well they only have a limited number of customers' line, it still doesn't matter. It's a business. Whether their clientel is 1 or 10000, any information we get is a bonus. Of course we want to know because we want to know if we should renew tickets or not, but this year has gone better than last year, and that's enough evidence for me. If things keep getting better instead of worse and they're still making money, then apparently they're doing something right in the front office. Let's see what the final attendence figures are. Last time I checked we were nearly 1000 over our average last year.

As for the Swarm, yes we have seen Silverbacks and Stuff hurt us in the past, but trying to sell tickets to 8 football games in addition to the 'Clones games isn't as bad as it seems. There probably should be more front office staff, but honestly I think i've spoken to my rep about actual business only once this year and it was because of deformed parking passes. I have yet to call the front office about anything since.

Bottom line: A summer meeting wouldn't be bad, but i'm not going to stop going to games if they don't fill us in. I think the Swarm will end up helping us more than hurting us, it's going to expose more people to the rink and after seeing football it might get people to come see hockey. Arena football was on NBC Sunday with ads for the Swarm. I really think it'll succeed, the Rockers only folded because of sh1tty ownership and it was also pre-renovations. The crowds were very good, and it was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to it coming back.

You make some good points Puckhead. I'm not asking to see the books. I'm just tired of rumors. As far as the Swarm, I've already bought 2 season tickets. I happen to like arena football. The last thing I will say on the subject is I don't want a meeting with Pat. I think it should be with David. Okay folks, I'm done now.

You could be right about the football team being a benefit, but
why do they have to turn their back on the hockey team. Remember
what happened with the "Rockers" when the promotions stopped and
the inside arena fun was cut back-the fan base died. I am not a
season ticket holder, but my wife and I go to about 60% of the
home games. I do agree that a meeting with the season ticket
holders would benefit both sides. Do they ever do the pass out
surveys at the games anymore?
Look at the number of people who have read this topic. I
am glad you have allowed me to put my 2 cents worth in.I just
hate to see the empty ad boards around the rink, the messed up
promotions, and a team playing their hearts out to empty seats.

There is definitely some truth in the statement that there are some valid points and things that could be explaned more clearly to us. I'm not so sure the dasher board white space for one is necessarily the club's fault, I think the arena has a lot to do with a lot of complaints made right now. We can only hope that things on that end improve, but then again if the 'Clones weren't in charge of that in the first place and it has no financial bearing on their outcome, I guess it's a moot point. No argument here that the promotions could be better, but again, what has to be cleared through the building first and how much free reign does the team have as far as what they do on ice? I think those would be helpful in fans' assessment of how and what the club is doing.
