gotta be the tampa bay lightning. have you heard the person who does the radio broadcast for them. high pitched voice goes octaves higher when tampa scores.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

ZINGER!!!!!

Carolina. I lived in Durham, NC for a while. When there, I knew one other person who liked hockey (he was from Philadelphia, and thus a Flyers fan). Nobody else there cared about hockey. I remember when one year when the Oilers won the cup, the local paper literally wrote 2 sentences about it. It was a terrible place for a hockey fan to live.

When Hartford moved there, the people were excited not because top notch hockey was coming to town, but because there were getting a major league team, and they were going to like other big cities. Since they were not going to get an NFL, NBA, or MLB team, they were 'settling' for the NHL.

Now maybe some interest in hockey has been sparked since the team set up shop there, but I remember it as a place that was living hell for somebody who liked the game.

the same thing happened in columbus with the blue jackets. sure, columbus has some of the best professional sports teams in all of college sports, and the city is sports crazy, but the didn't have a professional team. a few people got together to look into getting a pro-team, besides OSU football, to columbus. with MLB and NFL in both cincinnati and cleveland, that left the NHL. i'm sure initially that most of the folks in columbus only cared that it was pro team, but other time they they have become quite the hockey enthusiasts.
