First off it felt great to put on the Cyclones Jersey and hit my first Cyclones game of the year. I had a bad feeling the one goal lead wasn't going to last, but to lose the lead first with two iffy penalties resulting in 5 on 3 and then a freak hop of the puck over Dov's shoulder for the lead hurt the most. We skated great and only the self-control of Smith for Trenton kept us at bay.I still think we need a tough guy to keep other teams honest.I really liked defensemen who actually skated towards the goal and even shot at the goal.
It was a "blah" loss and I can't disagree with anything you said. I felt uncomfortable as well when we held onto the 1-0 lead for so long. You just had the feeling with Dov in net (no offense) that Trenton was going to come back late in the game. The offense continued to impress me very much but Trenton's "stand in front of the goal" defense came through.
Chad Starling is not on my good list right now. He was looking pretty slow out there. I think they were starting to feel as comfortable as we were with the lead. Trenton suprised us, and took home the win.
