Am I missing something, or do the Cyclones still not have a captain? I believe I recall Wildman announcing "Captain Starling" at one point in a game however as of last game he is still wearing the "A" patch along with the others.

Anyone know what's up with this?

I don't remember hearing captain Starling, but we have 3 alternates instead... last year when Chad missed a few games we played with 3 As, looks like they chose to do that this year instead.

Eghgoetz, Starling and MacDonald are all assistant captains right now. Perhaps Weber will leave it that way. Starling wore the C last year, so I would assume that he would be wearing it now if Weber was going to appoint a captain. I'm sure Weber used some variation of the 'one for all' approach when he told Starling he'd be an asst. with the others.

I didn't see this thread until after I posted in another one, so I'll repeat myself.

Starling appears to be a bit of a whiner on obvious penalties. Last year I saw Ftorek work refs very well. I don't think that is Starling's strong suit. I think that he may even hurt the cause when he approaches the ref.

Actually there is no captain because of coach webers philosophy to team work. He wanted it to be more about team work this year. That why there are three A's and no C's. I actually really like this idea.

I asked Chuck about this myself... and he said nobody stepped up. He actually has a group of 6 players that are his go-to guys (the 3 with the As, plus Dov, JM, and Conrad I believe)that kind of act as the leaders/captains, but obviously only 3 can wear the A.

I figured that was case, it's pretty cool if you think about it. I'd imagine it is also troubling because of certain guys always being called up, hard to make them a leader when you don't know if they'll be gone a week later.

^ I was thinking that might've been the whole reason for not having someone wearing the C this year. But I really don't think any of our A's have been called up ever really, so even if they wanted to throw a C on someone I don't think it would really be effected by call-ups.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Interesting comment by Weber about 'no one stepping up'. They're all stepping it up on the ice, so there's no apparent need to force the issue by assigning someone the 'C'.
