In The Cincinnati Enquirer "Sports Digest" today it said

Sports digest
ENQUIRER STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS

CYCLONES LOSE: The Cincinnati Cyclones' unbeaten streak ended at seven games with a 7-5 loss to the Dayton at U.S. Bank Arena. Right wing Jean-Michel Daoust extended his consecutive goal streak to nine games. The Cyclones drop to 10-4-1, their best record through 15 games in history.

Now for the Funny Part!!!

CAPS NAME EX-CYCLONE: The Washington Capitals have fired head coach Glen Hanlon and named former Cincinnati Tigers captain Bruce Boudreau interim head coach. Boudreau, 52, has coached championship teams in the American Hockey League and the ECHL and is in his third year as head coach of the Hershey Bears, Washington's AHL affiliate.

Boudreau had 42 goals and 103 points in 65 games for the Tigers in 1981-82.

I don't see anywhere in that story that he played for the Cincinnati Cyclones.
How do you get the words Tigers and Cyclones mixed up?

I have already sent off my e-mails to the Enquirer and express my feelings on this. I have also included a Hockey news link that was post on NHL.COM to show them on how a real news reporter writes a story and he dosen't live in this town.

They did 'backdoor' them. Or shock them, or whatever term you would like to use. It was their right to do so. While they may have informed Kirchofer et al that they would pursue another tenant including a hockey team, I'm sure that the concept of The Gardens going head-to-head with them was not considered a strong or realistic possiblity. Oh my, were they wrong.

Luxury Boxes, major corporated sponsorship, moving to the IHL, owning an arena. Was anyone in that organization grounded in reality? Kirchofer was dreaming and didn't have anyone in his organization to offer him sound counsel, evidently. Or he wouldn't listen to whatever was said. I would assume the former. Many small businesses (and large) are like that. The "whatever you say, boss"-type of corporate culture is prone to disasterous long-term results. The original Cyclones could probably be a Harvard Business School case study on organizational grandiosity and unsound, baseless decision making.

Talk about turning a "silk purse into a sow's ear".

If I had been Robinson and someone would have demanded $250k or so to subsidize them, then I would have also let them know where the door could hit them. If they expected the Gardens to operate at a loss or even a miniscule profit for their benefit, then they really did get what they deserved. Unfortunate for hockey fans, nonetheless.

I have kept quiet long enough....Donnie Hockey worked for the Ducks. Maybe he has already said that, not sure. It has been ten years plus since the move downtown for the Clones. I can't remember all the trash that was spewed for years while there were two teams in town. I find it interesting that Donnie hockey is now on a message board for Cyclone fans! My husband and I were very happy that the Clones left the Gardens and went downtown. The Gardens was a dump! Sorry to bring this all up again and I promise I will not post again on this subject. I just can't read anymore of Donnie hockey's koolaide! We have two friends that use to play for the Clones in the IHL. We got info first hand. Most of what I read was not true.
DONE....I promise.
As far as media converage....been there done that....I wrote many letters to the editor in the mid and late 90's. I was published several times. Nothing ever changed. But, the coverage was better in the IHL days. We thought it was bad...
So, I am at the end of my rant.
The Cyclones are playing in the ECHL and we are happy that they are here!
It has been said many times and it is worth repeating...SUPPORT THE TEAM AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE FUTURE.

I am thrilled about these Cyclones. It amazes me that some "hockey fans' don't watch and enjoy them. Their loss.

The most important hockey fact now is extracting huge and painful revenge on the bummers tonight. And Dov getting treatment for his sunburn

I also worked for the original Cyclones for each of their first six seasons. I was involved with them from the ground floor up. I had a hand in helping them become the success they were in the early 1990's. I also was intrumental in helping to get the Fan Club off the ground.

I'm no different that bgwags or any other Cyclones fan. I'm a hockey fan just like they are and I want to see hockey succeed here just like they do. But that's unacceptable to people like bgwags. They assume there has to be some agenda, some reason I'm at a Cyclones game or that I'm on a message board. They can't let go of that serrated edge they have towards the Gardens, Robinsons and Ducks. They're still too angry about stuff that allegedly happened 11 years ago. Two former IHL Cyclones told them stuff they were instructed by management to say, so it must be true!!!

Keep dumping on the people that were involved or associated with the Ducks, bgwags. That'll help the Cyclones sell more tickets.

Actually I do help sell tickets. I take friends to the games.
As far as our friends that were Cyclone players in the 90's...we are true friends. Still friends. They never said anything bad about the Ducks organization, they only refuted some of the rumors that were circulating on the boards by Ducks fans or employees.
So DH, if you think that I am part of the problem, so be it.
I just don't believe everything you say.
I am mad at myself for even answering you.

That's fine. But what did I ever do to you or the Cyclones that caused you to have such a chip on your shoulder? I don't think you can come up with a legitimate answer to that question.

While you may bring some people to the Cyclones games you cost them more than you bring in with your resentment towards the Ducks, Gardens, Robinsons, etc. Ducks fans don't want to sit in the same arena with fans like you. It's one of the reasons they stay away.

sure am glad to see this topic is here, shame many of you are using this area to discuss other things. if you want to discuss the clones/ducks days make a new thread so we who want to read about how or what ideas the fans can try to get better media coverage can do so with out having to go through a mine field of cr**.

Don't worry about it. Since ex-Ducks workers are unwelcome in the land of Cyclones hockey I'll step aside.

don, your not unwelcome to come into cyclone territory but you people are bringing up stuff from the past...time to let it all go and stick with the team that we have now...like my father says, doesnt matter what team we have...as long as it says CINCINNATI on the front
