I Haven't been following the USBA attendance very closely this season but looked at Sat's game sheet and seen that there was a crowd of 12,825 at the game against Wheeling!
If that is not a typo, it has to be one of the all time best crowds
including the 2 Kelly Cup wins at home with crowds of well over 12,000.
Very impressive for a regular season game turnout.

Shows what $10 tickets and cheap food will do for you. Wish they
would make the weekday games $10 and see how the attendance would be.

I'd bet that it's be great attendance for the first couple of months then would become the new normal. The numbers would revert back quickly. As a transplant from the west coast, it's embarrassing how cheap Cincinnati seems to be when it comes to entertainment. How can anyone call $13 for a pro game expensive??? Laughable, but par for the course, if this forum in any indication.

I'm probably wrong but if the team made a $10 ticket available-either in the
ends or in the upper tier, I bet the attendance would jump at least 1000 per
game. Add 1000 on the attendance figure and ads on the boards are much easier
to sell and news coverage becomes a little more available. Not saying the
weekday games go up 1000, but I could see weekend going 1500+ and weekdays
maybe 300. Funny how some of our biggest promotions from the Garden's have
been disowned. Puck night was always big. How about New Year's Eve and the
"Melt the Ice" Bikini Contests. How about a real Nascar night with the car
and the driver here. Another big night was Thanksgiving night. After watching
football and eating turkey, always had a big crowd coming that night since
most had next day off.
Yes I agree Cincinnati fans can be cheap. More reason to not be greedy. Maybe
if Las Vegas had reduced their prices, Orleans Casino would have kept them with
higher fans coming in the door and later the casino.

So many things wrong with this post. I'll just say this: your 1st three words were the right ones.

Attendance wise I don't think the $10 (Upper level/Corners/etc.) would work. On a standard weekday those folks would simply migrate to the lower levels. On a standard (4000-5000) weekend the migration would be a mess. In all reality the ushers at USBA are ineffective. (There are exceptions, including Tom in 130!)

Everyday $10 tickets and $1 concessions WILL create a new normal and wear out its welcome in less than a season. Are you going to wait 20 minutes for your dollar pizza or hot dog? Maybe once. Then you'll eat before and not at the arena.

A better idea may be more than one throwback night. Unfortunately most casual Cincinnati hockey fans (or cheap ticket/cheap food seekers) don't realize the season actually begins in October, not at Christmas time.

The promotion schedule has been fairly good for bringing folks to the arena. The team has made an effort to be family friendly (Kids eat free, throwback night, kid shirt nights) simply because you can't sell it strictly as a hockey game. I'm not going to take my kids to the Melt the Ice bikini night. (I might go by myself!) When I bring my kids I buy drinks, hot dogs, popcorn, etc. When I come by myself I might buy a beer or two. The team wants and needs cash flow. And that is what mom, dad and kids bring to the party.

The dollar beer nights exist simply because we have to have weeknight games by league rules. Families aren't going to show on a school night so lets get the college students/hipsters/drunks to buy crap beer for a $1 and still make a few dollars.

The team and attendance has grown dramatically since the 06-07 return. That growth is due to a realistic marketing plan and a couple really good (and lucky) hockey teams. And I'm happy to have it!

This is for "cycfanforever". You brought up a good question and the topic
turned bad. Yes it was great seeing the place full and everyone seemed to be
having a good time. The $10 ticket prices gave everyone a break on a night out
and the $1 beer, pizza, small sodas and hot dogs sent everyone home happy. The
point I tried to bring up that Cincinnati is not a free spending town. Being AA
level hockey, a $10 ticket either upper tier or ends could be a great tool for
families and high school/college kids. Extra fun happened when the first goal
was called off-but the teddy bears started flying. We ended up with two tosses
on the night instead of one.

It's not 1990 anymore. Tickets can't be $10 every night if you want to see professional hockey in Cincinnati for the long haul.

The Cyclones ticket prices are in line with what it costs in 2015 throughout North America to see this caliber of minor pro hockey.

On the promotional front, a Puck Night is something I'd like to see them do, along with a night where they bring back former players for an alumni game. Fans that haven't been to a game in 10-plus years would come back to see guys like Steve Cadieux, Martin St. Amour, Wayne Cowley, Rob Krauss, Kevin Kerr, Darcy Norton, Chris Nelson, Dennis Holland, Howie Rosenblatt, Don Biggs, Paul Lawless, Jeff Greenlaw and some others skate in an alumni game with a meet-and-greet and autograph session afterwards prior to or after the Cyclones game. Get these old fans to come back and they might just get caught up in the excitement again.

The Milwaukee Admirals tried $10 tickets for all seats about 10 years ago and it was great for a year. After the newness wore off, the arena was back to the same old people there. I would think that having a throwback night every other month or every two months would probably be just enough to keep people coming to these and then hopefully to a few more normal games.

Another big crowd and this time it was at full price. Except for a
promotion for the first 2,000, this crowd was paying full price to
see a hockey game. I was wondering how crowds would be in late January
through April with late Sunday afternoon games ? With football done and
baseball not started, this could be a chance for maybe some "Family Days"
where families are the target of promotions. I understand the reluctance
to $10 everyday tickets, but Sundays could be a great day to offer them.
Weekday nights can be hard getting the family to a game with school and
work and Saturday is a big entertainment night, so full price can still be
achieved, but Sunday is a different story. A 5PM game would mean people
could be home early that night while having the morning and early afternoon
for something else.
It was great seeing the big crowd down there. Too bad the Cyclones have a history
of playing better before small crowds ! Goalie Brittain just didn't seem to be in
synch with the defense. Oh the dreaded first minute of periods one and three.

They tried a Sunday game last year, it drew a little over 1600. Granted it was in November but the Bungles were on a bye week. I'm just not sure if making it late in the year would make a difference. From what I can recall, Sunday games just don't seem to draw here in Cincy. Discounting the tickets could help but rather than doing that I'd suggest the same thing someone else said, have 2 or 3 "Throwback" nights. They don't have to call them all Throwback night, to mix it up, do one in say Novemember/early December can call it Throwback Night, then do a 2nd in late January/February can call it Economic Relief night. Finally, have one late in the season, say April, and call it Tax Refund night or something.

Looks like we have a Sunday game coming up on Feb 15th. Guess we'll see how the crowd is then.

It figures- I talk about Sunday games and the one we have at home
I'll be out of town for ! Still feel that these next two months
would be a good time for possible family Sunday outings. Also like
your idea Elvis for the Throwback idea. Maybe add in an "Old-Timers"
game like Donnie brought up. It's great to buy tickets and be given
ones in the upper bowl.
Current attendance is: Cincinnati total:87,430 Games:20 Average:4,372
