Not yet. Going to wait it out a little longer to see what is going on w/ the Arena. All I hear is rumor after rumor.

David & I haven't done it either. We haven't even/ever received any information about prices, etc. for next season. Then again, we can't depend upon the front office staff anymore. Hopefully next season will be better. |
Hockey is life. All the rest is just small stuff.

| Neither have I. Of course, how often are season tickets put on sale this early in the off-season? Hell, they just awarded the Cup last week. |

| We normally convert the unused play off money to next years season tickets. However, this year, we asked for a refund. Haven't heard anything about that either. |

| Typically I roll over my playoff balance too, but now I'm starting to wonder if I should've gone with the refund. I guess it's common practice to not comment on pending litigation, but I'd feel a lot better about things if they'd keep season ticket holders updated on the situation. I certainly don't want to commit any more money till I know if there will be a season here next year. I'm not all that encouraged by the fact that the league released the schedule. I imagine that they released a schedule at some point that didn't include the Cyclones in their first year returning to the "E". I wonder if they're considering any other options in the event that they lose in court. Is a return to the Gardens a possibility? Or perhaps Oxford? I guess I'd just like to know how commited they are to remaining in this area. If the current ownership is serious about drawing an NHL team here in the future, (which i think is a pipedream) it seems that they'd lose interest rapidly if US Bank Arena were out of the mix. I hate to sound so negative, but i gotta be realistic. Just my two cents. |

With the attitude of the arena, what about talking with Newport to build a 10,000 seat arena on the river . We have three years left on the original 5 years, so this would give them plenty of time to build. We could probably get $3 or $4 parking, not that much change in location, and no fights with the Bengals or Reds. Newport also would have a smaller arena to go after concerts and a sports team already established. The NHL is a pipedream that will never work here. Why do you think we got left behind when the WHL folded. |

I like that idea, bags. Not sure how good those chances are, but hey, I'm all for it!

| I Like that idea too, but I think it has about as much chance of happening as the NHL coming here. I don't see Newport rushing to build an arena for a team that averages 1500 people a game. To take on that kind of project, i would think there would have to be a lot of public interest. There's just not enough hockey fans around here. |

Newport has the reputation for taking an idea and moving on it. While Cincinnati was debating, Newport built the aquarium, the Imax, the floating bars and restaurants. With a 10,000 seat stadium, some of the concerts going to Riverbend,Bogarts and even U.S Bank Arena could be booked there. If you could knock $2 off parking due to the lack of Hamilton County greed, fans would come down also.Look at the history of Cyclones hockey-every $2 raise in prices cost the team 1500 fans.If we can have the Greater Cincinnati airport in Kentucky, the ECHL not meaning EAST COAST HOCKEY LEAGUE, why not the Newport CINCINNATI CYCLONES. By the way, the attendance was 1500 in the playoffs when the league screwed us on prices! |

| I was refering to actual attendance, not the inflated figures they publish. I don't think we even cracked 1000 during the playoffs. And while the increased ticket and parking prices certainly played a part in the decline in attendance, there were a lot of other factors too. I think the biggest problem is that the novelty has worn off for the casual fan, and the team has done very little to hold their interest. Remember the "party" atmosphere at the Gardens? When's the last time we experienced that at US BANK? All that's left now are the hard core fans who sctually come to watch hockey. I don't think there's enough of us to support a new arena. I'm also not sure a 10000 seat venue would be big enough to draw many concerts from either Riverbend or US Bank. Don't get me wrong,I would LOVE to see a new arena built. I'm just not sure the idea is realistic. I think the best we can hope for is a win in court, and a renewed promotional effort from the 'Clones. |

Bucky69 said: <<I think the best we can hope for is a win in court, and a renewed promotional effort from the 'Clones.>> It's going to take more than that, in my opinion. The stories that I've heard of regarding the Swarm games is that they're doing all the crazy promotional things that the Cyclones used to. If the organization could just tap that sort of energy again, we might be seeing a few more folks in the seats. I mean, let's face it... outside of the Hockey, there's not much going on at the game. Hell, if the arena can usurp the 'clones ticket staff, they could at least share promotion departments.
Another thing they've got to do is get their butts on the radio. Webcasts ain't the way to market the team. The "coffee can broadcasts" Weideman did on WNOP are preferable.
One more note, off the subject: a lot of what's being said on here is being read by "your pal & mine" and posted on the In The Crease forums for him to ridicule. There sure are some classy folk around these days, aren't there? |

The Swarm game on Saturday drew around 3600 fans with all their promotion attempts. I take my hat off to them trying to please the fans but the key is newspaper/tv coverage and radio play by play |

The Swarm don't have radio coverage, though, so they're in the same boat as the 'clones in that regards.
I was at the game Saturday. All in all, I weren't that impressed but I'm not an AF fan. Still, it looks like they've got some die hard fans (even a rival to Section 60 in "The Hive"). |
