Muskegon - USHL Ft Wayne - ECHL QC - CHL then merger of the remaining IHL/AAHL teams.
There's also talk of Evansville to the USHL in 2011. Also talk of several of the Michigan NAHL (Tier II Junior A) teams going to Tier III where they can charge the player fees (no fees at Tier I & II levels).
This doesn't account for the ECHL teams (more from the West) that are rumored to be having problems...
Should be interesting to see how it all shakes out....
Thanks.
All the moves that your sources have speculated make complete sense.
BTW, I saw my first USHL game in Indy last month. Not bad at all. |

Yeah, they are not looking forward to this offseason at all, anticipating alot of work trying to figure out the landscape and then trying to get their clients lined up with whichever teams remain.
re: USHL/Indy - yeah, Indy puts a pretty competitive team on the ice. I'm off to Ann Arbor this weekend where Waterloo takes on Tyler Biggs and his Team USA team. Waterloo in Indy for last time this regular season on Feb 8th, but it's one of the school field trip/day games (12:05pm). |

You really enjoy digging up my old posts!! I guess I'll call you my biggest fan. Next to your main man Donald, of course. Membership to my fan club costs $10 per year. Can I mark you down for a family membership? That's only $25-as many family members as you have. Even pets are welcome.
If this is the best that you can come up showing inconsistency/conflict within my posts, then I'm doing pretty well given my voluminous posting. I might buy myself a membership in my fan club come to think of it.
I believe that the "fading league" post was probably in reference to one of the silly "next new team in the Gardens" nonsensical threads.
The USHL seems to be healthy in some markets, not so healthy in others. It's a league that's here to stay. Just not here in Cincinnati.
Do please look up some of your HG posts regarding Desjardins and Desharnais not making it in the AHL. A few about the Cyclones folding and various teams coming to the Gardens would be nice as well.
Just bump the threads. I'll check for them in a few days.
Thanks in advance. |

The next conversation the man who knows nothing about a lot has with someone directly involved with the USHL will be his first, so obviously he's dialed in on where the league could have teams in the future. |

You may have a main man, but I don't swing that way.

I don't have enough time or interest to spotlight all of your inconsistencies and contradictions. Your voluminous posting just shows that you know a little about everything, but a lot about nothing. People don't like to continually read pissing matches, so I try to limit the posts in which I make you look foolish. It just leads to your juvenile name-calling and extraneous off-topic ramblings that are not cute, witty, or entertaining.

So you were wrong, but apparently just can't say it in those words, and you are insecure with the current state of the Cyclones, so you will bad mouth any team and/or league that is even rumored to be coming to this city so that you can mentally block out the thought of another team jeopardizing the Cyclones' stability here.

Again, more off-topic drivel, obviously meant to muck up the message board and divert attention away from your contradiction. If you have problems with something I may or may not have posted on another message board, you should either take it up with me on that message board, or if you insist on dragging it to this board, then at least put it under the FACEOFF topic, where people can choose whether or not they want to read it without having to sludge through it when trying to read about hockey. |

More grumblings and rumors...
Even the IHL seems to admit that Muskegon is in trouble, as commish Dennis Hextall backed off an earlier comment (where he'd stated that Muskegon would have both an IHL and a USHL team next season), by simply stating he was aware of the USHL having interest in getting into Muskegon. Still no official announcement though...
Quad City is getting impatient. They're still averaging over 4,000/game but attendance has slipped off somewhat and the IHL landscape is looking bleak. They're considering both the CHL and ECHL at this point. Part of it will probably depend on what goes into the Sears Center in Chicago.
Port Huron is quietly watching and waiting to see who is left standing. You better believe the USHL or NAHL is eyeing them. They'd like to directly compete in Sarnia's backyard... a USHL team in a traditional hockey market RIGHT across the border from Canada has to be a prize to them.
We're at a point now where even the Komet fans are seeing the writing on the wall. If they want to make a jump to somewhere else, the time is probably soon because after the coming shake-up across minor hockey this offseason they may not get a better time to pick their market's situation. |

All the talk about teams changing leagues, leagues merging and teams packing up can be looked at many ways. First off- we felt empty when the Cyclones closed down and I don't wish that on any city. However, league mergers can have some great positive effects. If the IHL teams joined the ECHL, travel costs will go down in some cases. We only play 36 away games, so a road trip to Fort Wayne won't be as much as one to Florida. In the same sense, wouldn't a game this week with Kalamazoo and next week against Fort Wayne be better than seeing Kalamazoo this week AND next week.A league with three Michigan, two Illinoise, one Indiana and one Ohio is going to be great for Kalamazoo,Toledo and ourselves. Any savings that can be generated for teams is a giant plus. Long live all the cities with hockey teams and please bring back Dayton,Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and every other Midwest city within a roughly 4 hour drive or less. |

Well just remember that if the IHL does in fact keel over, Port Huron, Flint, and probably Bloomington won't be joining Fort Wayne or QC in going anywhere. They're not in shape to survive the IHL quite frankly, let alone the ECHL and increased trave. Bloomy's ok, but if something happens to the IHL... then Franke pulls out as a minority owner in Bloomy and it goes to East St. Louis in a handbasket.
The IHL cannot wholly merge with anyone, too many of its markets are already supported by the Frankes or are in dire shape. |
