I was informed earlier today that John is no longer with the team.
Can someone please explain to me what's going on if you know? Thanks. |

I was shocked when I heard. WHY? I really enjoyed listening to John. Good luck John. I am hoping you land an even better position! You deserve it. |

I had heard some rumblings last week the Cyclones were in the market for a new PR/broadcaster. I thought John did a nice job calling the games and connected well with the fans.
It would be great to see the Cyclones right a wrong that was done by the IHL Cyclones organization and bring back Terry Ficorelli. |

Well this certainly has been an offseason of change. and like a good friend said to me earlier it's not that change can't be good, but it's a bit difficult to find it in this scenario.
I wish Hammer nothing but the best and I agree DH he not only did a great job of calling the game, but much like the rest of the coaching staff always made time to talk to ya.
I remember listening to Ficorelli growing up, but i was young so i know nothing of what lead to him exiting, however, i think it would be interesting to see him return (is he still in the game??)...even tho right at the minute it's hard to believe that it wont be hammer we all hear this coming fall... |

Donnie, I'm sure you heard about it before the person who terminated John even thought about it. Ya know, since you are god. |

This is a shocker. I'm very saddened to hear about this.
John Hamel gave his all to the Cyclone organization. His passion was obvious to anyone who listened to his broadcasts. He was always willing to talk Cyclone hockey with this fan. If you're reading this John, I always appreciated your insight and the time you gave me. I always enjoyed our "hellos" at the road games.
John's contributions went beyond the calling of games and generation of press releases and game notes. He was the sales force behind this past season's "Education in Hockey" game which had an astounding 8944 in attendance. He produced the wonderful summary of the Cyclones 2007-08 season called "Champions".
I wish John the best in his future. He played a vital role in the reestablishment of professional hockey in Cincinnati, and whatever the circumstances of his departure, that can never be taken away from him.
John, thanks for your major role in making the Cyclone experience so enjoyable for this fan. Best of luck in your future.

I know plenty but thanks. the bottom line is: does it matter if he knew before anyone else? i had heard things back during the playoffs but i didnt consider the source reliable. would you like to call me a liar as well? the bottom line is that no matter how you feel about DH,this is a thread regarding John and what he brought to the team/organization. if the only thing you can bring to the discussion are shots @ DH and whether he knew before anyone else says a lot about the type of fan YOU are... |

This maybe a lateral move suggestion, hire John as home game announcer, and move Wildman Walker to the radio. I make this suggestion because Wildman for some reason cannot/ or will not pronounce the player names right. All last season he kept announcing Jason Jozsa ( Joe-za) as Jason Johnza. It's just a suggestion. |

I think the best mispronunciation i heard was when LaCroix scored his first home goal, as well as 2 more for the Hat Trick that night, and every time he called him "Max-e-may". For someone who has been around hockey as long as him, shouldnt it have been painfully obviously from the start that wasnt right? |

Terry Ficorelli was the play by play guy for the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the IHL last season, however I believe they have suspended operations. |

Ficorelli was around way back in the day. I was young at the time but all i can remember is how animated he was while calling the game. (looking back he reminds me a lot of hammer). no matter what it's definitely going to be interesting to see where things go from here. |
