It seems like everyone I know is like "nay Martinson" and "yay Zinger" here. Hopefully the 'Clones think likewise. |

First off great news for Coach Weber. We all wish we could hang onto the talent but we don't mind it when we lose them to a higher league. The only bad part is if only it would have happened last month, Dean Stork would most likely be our new head coach. It would not surprise me to find Rochester deep in the playoffs within three years. Here is another name possibly for an assistant job- Chad Starling if he's ready to hang the skates up. Maybe even in a pinch as a player-coach!

I doubt it would be Martinson, he seems to be a lock to be the head coach of the new Chicago franchise in '11-'12. I would have liked to have seen him in Wheeling. I'm not sure if the Nailers even made a run at him. |

Rochester won't be where Florida is developing its top prospects in the AHL in three years. The affiliation agreement between Florida and Rochester ends after the upcoming 2010-11 season. |

Do you mean this Moe Mantha?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moe_Mantha,_Jr.
"On October 18, 2005 he was suspended as general manager for one year and stripped of his coaching duties for 40 games due to a hazing incident, and fight between teammates during a practice. Later that year, he was fired from both his general manager and coaching positions. He is currently the head coach for the Michigan Warriors of the NAHL."

Bergeron was just named the new head coach at Bowling Green U earlier this summer so I doubt he'd be a candidate.
Mantha is currently signed as GM/Coach of the new Michigan Warriors (NAHL/Tier II Junior A), although there are rumblings starting to surface about ownership issues there and concerns if the team will even make the season...so he might be available...but how legitimate a candidate??? The incident that bags linked to is real reason to hope not... |

Nothing against Zinger but he is a blank sheet for coaching experience. Chuck at least had several years as an assistant. They also need someone who can fill his job off the ice in Hockey Operations which is as important to the ultimate success. Right now there is really no one in management with much hockey experience at all
I would hope Chuck has been talking to ownership throughout this period and they in turn had to know the odds were great he would be gone and they got his input etc for a replacement. If so, there should be an announcement in the next few days. If not, means they were caught flat footed or they need to go through the affiliates.
Anyone know what role the two affiliates might have in the selection? Do they have a big voice or just a veto vote or what? As we have seen, the NHL team really has control over the AHL coach selection but not sure if that translates to the ECHL. I doubt it but they might have some leverage or veto power. |

How about bringing Brad Shaw back. I need to get his hockey card signed. |
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Brad's an assistant coach with the St. Louis Blues. He and his family enjoy St. Louis. |

Thanks Joe (fangers) for the Bergeron info. I was just plugging some names from the past and the Miami job was what appeared. I would like to see a young-hungry coach like Weber who isn't afraid to try some new things.
