Agree...Berge would have been a strong option if he was still an assistant at Miami, but I suspect he's happy with the gig he has now... |

Very little, I believe. The AHL head coaches are almost always an employee of the NHL team (and the AHL GM is usually the assistant NHL GM). The AHL teams aren't carrying our coaching staff on their payroll, so I'd say none, but I'm sure they're a good resource for references. |

I've never been drunk enough to even think that Moe Mantha would be a good choice.
If Martinson's not available, then perhaps John Brophy could be lured out of retirement. Brophy would cut guys who wore a visor (this is before they were mandatory). My kind of coach.
We've won enough. It's time for no-holds-barred physical hockey replete with ample goonery.
Hopefully Ray Harris can locate another gem like he did with Weber. The hockey world has many assistant coaches and head coaches at lower levels who are good hockey men. I'm sure that Harris and Weber have had a conversation or two regarding Chuck's successor. I have no doubt that the new hire will be a capable one. Certainly not some washed up stiff like Mantha. |

Great idea on Jackson. Looks like he's been coaching over in Germany. I would have no problem with that choice .

Congratulations to Chuck!!! Well deserved in my opinion. Hopefully he'll be winning Calder Cups in the next 2-3 years.
Any word on when they might announce a new coach? |

Last night Coach Weber was interviewed by Mo Egger on "The Big One". He basically stated the Cyclones knew he would be moving on and did ask for his opinions on some replacement candidates.

I took my kid to the recent Cyclones hockey school and what I saw there would suggest the opposite. Barret ran the show. Zinger (and even Coach Weber) followed Barrets lead throughout the entire week. No offense intended to Dwayne; he and all the coaches did a _wonderful_ job, but everyone took their queues from el Capitan.
All that is not to say I think either should or should not be the next coach(es), but rather if it were to materialize that both were brought on board as coaches, my observations indicated the opposite of the original suggestion. |

Last year when Dean was here he ran the camp, everyone including Chuck looked to him. I think Barret just took the lead when Dean was absent. Barret loves the kids so it suited him well.
I hope there is something in the works for next year. It is getting later and later into the summer. May the hockey gods look down on the Cyclones with favor and a great coach be found. |

Thanks for the link!!
Weber implied that he had his choice between Rochester and another unnamed team.

quote: Around the AHL: In other coaching news, Chuck Weber has been named new coach of the Rochester Americans. Weber, 37, directed Cincinnati of the ECHL to a 177-92-19 record and two Kelly Cups (2008 and 2010) during his four seasons at the helm.
''I thought (this year) might have opened some doors for me. I think it would have been tough if I hadn't gotten a chance (as an AHL head coach) after this year,'' Weber said.
