I've seen it too many times,the "hot" goaltender is started over and over
and then the floor falls out and he can't even stop blue line shots.This
is a talented rookie that needs rest after two or three games to stay sharp.
Even if it means giving a game away,I would like to see John Smith start the
next game and give Desjardine the needed day off. |

| I don't see that happening, but you never know. It just depends how long before Wall gets done healing an Dov is sent back to us. |

I'd rather have seen Gratz take a start than Smith. Cedrick survived the weekend - the Clones can't survive 4 games in 5 games with just Desjardins. Supposedly Dover's comin' back shortly, but under no circumstances (especially in such a close division) should you 'give' a game away. Cedrick's got 2 full days to bounce back before Tuesday if we're still w/o Dov, then another before the 3 day slaughtering -- and if Dov's not back by then, okay, we have a problem. |

I hope this isn't a "salary saving" move of not getting a legit goaltender.
Considering that Portland is Anaheim and not Montreal's AHL team, are we
wearing down a rookie goaltender because a real backup would cost too much.
As bad as Randy Petruk played for us the last time,I wouldn't mind seeing
him in goal right now if he was available.My guess is 0-3 the next three home
games if Dejardins doesn't get some relief RIGHT NOW!! |

c'mon the truk'r didn't play that bad for us....that team had bigger issues than goal tending. randy had a .909 save percentage and a 2.85 goals against avg. both of which aren't too bad when you consider how many shots he saw each night. and i'd take those numbers over chad collins' anytime.

I'm with you Elvis,Randy would be a veteran to BACK-UP and help until Grumet-Morris
gets back.If we don't get him back,we now would have the young hot prospect with the
veteran helping him on. I would love to see Dejardins play three games,then Petruk
play one or go back to the alternate with Grumet-Morris back.Can you image these next
THREE GAMES straight against Johnstown if we use the SAME GOALTENDER! |

I always thought Petruk was a great goaltender for us. Sure, he didn't have the greatest record splitting time with Tyler Masters in that last abysmal season in the ECHL, but you have to look at about the whole team in that circumstance.
Loved when Petruk played outstanding in that IHL playoff series against Orlando as the back-up, even though it fell apart with Grand Rapids ... |

To all those who read my earlier post here(I don't need to copy it
over and over),please pass the ketchup so I can eat my words on
Dejardins record for these three home games.I said 0-3, but now
he will be no worse than 2-1 if we would lose tomorrow. I still
would like to see him get some time off before something happens.
Our great defense and the lousy Johnstown effort tonight sure saved
us.My hat is off to Johnstown's goalie tonight.We beat the boy like
a dirty rug and he hung in there all night.Does anyone else think the
ice is getting bad.Tuesday seemed like they were skating on gravel and
tonight again everyone is slipping all over the rink. |

Yeah, Johnston's G played great ... reminded me of when we played against Andy Franck earlier in the season against Wheeling when we lost 2-1 despite shooting 52 times. However, in the end it was the shootout that mattered and Dejardins was the hero in that. I don't know why choose to go first again, I guess it's just Weber's personal strategy. It was pretty funny to see the Johnstown go out and skate around, ready to attempt the shot and thinking that we would choose for them to go first and then have Daoust came out and do the same, and the Chief finally noticed and skated off.
In the end it was the shoot out that mattered and I think Dejardins was the hero in that.
And yeah, people were slipping all over the place ... it was a physical game but jeez.
2-0 this week, hope it continues with Big Ben night tommorow. |

Elvis,considering we beat them the previous two nights and my guess
is the Johnstown players were ripped a new A-hole on the trip back,
I'll take a point for the tie and much needed rest for Dejardins.
Now if the game was a blow out and he gave up 5 or 6 goals,then hand
me the phone and dial Randy's number.For now, I'll give him another
shot after giving up two goals in regulation and one in overtime in
his first ECHL game of the year. |
