CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have offered a professional tryout to Carson Palmer. The tryout will take place on Thursday, September 29 at 7:00pm on the ice at U.S. Bank Arena. The general public is invited to attend the tryout as it will coincide with the Cyclones annual preseason Open House. Fans will also have the ability to tour the Cyclones locker room, take a shot on Cyclones broadcaster and one game goalie phenom Nick Brunker, and also pick out their seats for the upcoming Cyclones season.
The 6'5" Southern California native recently "retired" from pro football. The Cyclones hope to allow Palmer to continue his professional sports career in Cincinnati by losing the cleats and lacing up the skates this season. Palmer spent eight great seasons leading the Bengals and the Cyclones hope that he can quarterback their power play for the upcoming year.
Should the former Heisman Trophy winner grab a spot on the team, he will earn the league minimum of $370 per week while also sharing lodging with one of his teammates in a spacious two-bedroom apartment. Palmer will also enjoy the luxury of traveling to and from each game on a 'sleeper' bus where each player has their very own bunk. Palmer, who has worn #9 during his entire pro-career, will have to negotiate with last year's leading scorer Mathieu Aubin to wear the single digit mark this season.
"To be able to have an athlete such as Carson Palmer would be a major addition to this year's club" said Cyclones Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. "Palmer's leadership and command of a game in the offensive zone should help our squad this season. His skating ability, stick handling skills, and slapshot have yet to be seen but growing up in the hockey hotbed of Fresno, California…one can only think he’s a natural."
The countdown to the 2011-12 season is officially underway! Secure your seats for this year's Home Opener on Saturday, November 5 when the Cyclones welcome the Chicago Express to U.S. Bank Arena for the first time at 7:30pm. This would be so awesome, if not only to force the media outlets around town to report about the Cyclones.

This has to be worse than the idiotic Bill Cunningham bobblehead night.
The Cyclones should NEVER be involved with the Bengals (or even any former players). I won't be renewing my season tickets next year if they are.. I could care less if the team lost every game of the season. I hate the Bengals THAT much. |

| Everybody knows this is just some publicity stunt because Carson wont step foot in this city. Why they did this is beyond me, it makes no sense even to try and make the media give the team attention, they will show up looking for Carson and he will not be there because as we all know he will not be back in Cincinnati in cleats or skates. And the press release says that a try out will occur, its not a good idea to do that because it will do more harm then good I think causing the media to not cover the team at all because they give out false info. I know its a publicity stunt, Channel 12 did not even mention it and they cover the Bengals and Carson like crazy. Its a publicity stunt. However I will show up if it was Barret Ehgoetz getting his "try out" and then sign after his "try out." |

| This is really stupid. It's a shame the team has to hit this level just to get some media coverage. |

I saw this on Yahoo earlier. It seems most NFL teams not in New England or Green Bay are dealing with this type of thing alot these days. The Bengals more so than others. I share your disgust. |

It's not April 1st, so the best word I can come up with to describe this is "stupid."

Every Cyclones fan should be thoroughly insulted by this. I don't give a crap if it's a publicity stunt or not. Palmer couldn't wait to pack his bags and get out of town...and more power to him.
If the front office of the Cyclones has to bottom feed for this kind of publicity, we can only speculate where the organization is heading. And for Skalde to come out endorsing it demonstrates he is either a puppet or a complete moron!
If the Cyclones want to attract Bengal players, try going to the Hamilton County Justice Center. I hear Jerome Simpson is looking to change careers too. |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

| Maybe there is an actual hockey player named Carson Palmer who will try out, but other than that it is stupid, and makes the organization look stupid. |

| I don't think it would be a bad thing to get palmer out on skates, and have Liambass put him into the boards. ;) |
