| I know that many fans were upset about not resigning Eghoetz and the questions of the roster turnover but I wonder if Skalde knew something about this years roster from people in Miami, Nashville or Milwaukee and San Antonio. Just sent down today Ben Ryan and Robert Slaney bring the Nashville or Milwaukee contracted players to 5. Florida and San Antonio have 6 players on the roster for a total of 11 affilated players that people above want to see play. 13 players are signed only at Cincinnati so could it be the dual affilation played a role in the roster and how it turned out? Again I know that we will never know the real reason why Ehgo wasnt signed and a lot of people put that for Nick to answer last night during the 2nd intermission but he is not going to ever answer that question because he works for the team, but when people above want to see people play, especially Florida with the top prospects others have to be moved. Again just throwing that out there as maybe a possible reason. |

Great news on the two new players. I am getting excited about this team. With this many late assignees from both affiliates, there should be some strong ECHL talent in the group. Also, as opposed to having only one or two assignees per team like we did last year, we don't have to worry about losing all of them to call ups at one time. While we will no doubt lose one or two here and there to call ups, there should always be a large core of assignees here.
Also great to hear the early evaluations on Chet. Still need second goalie. Danny Taylor starting today for Springfield. Brian Foster has played in all three SA games and played well. That would point to Tyler Plante being sent down when Legace is ready to go or Clemenson returns to Panthers.
Can't believe we have to wait three weeks for the opening home game. |

It's real simple - Egho and skalde never saw eye-to-eye and skalde wasn't keeping him under any circumstance...

Really?? I don't what is more sad, the fact that you've put so much thought to this or you actually posted such an illogical post. It's real simple - Egho and skalde never saw eye-to-eye and skalde wasn't keeping him under any circumstance...
Illogical post on something that will be pure speculation becuase we will never know? Illogical post because this is the first time in a long time that almost half the team does not belong to the Cyclones rather belong by assignments? Unless you have eyes and ears inside coach skaldes office we will never know what he may have known. Skalde put the "c" back on Egho last year when he could have put it on somebody he chose, he could have released Ehgoetz half way through the year but he did not, he put Ehgo on the do not touch list when McIlveen was dealt to Utah along with Sproat. Ehgoetz also had surgery after the year and maybe Skalde was given some improper information and moved on before the real truth on his rehab came out again we are not going to know because it is all here say, but in the end alot of affiliate players are here which made me wonder what Skalde was told over the summer from Nashville and Miami.
As I said I just threw it out there as a possibility because things have turned out imo because Weber, Mueller, the Panthers Coach and Nashville's coach sent so many players down here to see them play and this stuff happens in the summer months when they plan the year. Its an opionion, you have one, I have one. Sometimes there is more to it besides a difference in philosophy. I almost cancelled my season tix when I heard Egho wasnt being resigned, but I realized in the end its a business and good and bad decisions are made in a fans perspective that a team makes, not resigning Ehgo was a bad decision but its a business and you have to support the team Skalde has on the ice. |

2x Kelly Cup Champion, Sportsman of the Year, Captain for 3 years, Assistant Captain for 2 years, oh and a member of the ECHL All Decade Team. Your right Donnie he was an ECHL player no doubt about it, but he most likely will be placed in the ECHL Hall of Fame in due time. 2005-2011 Playoffs 2005-2011 Games-406 78 Goals-114 18 Assts-206 31 Points-320 49 +/- +51 |

Thanks Donnie. Clearly a +51 career guy, that was the captain of a cup team and led the team in scoring last year wasn't worth a contract.
Coach didn't want him. Fans do. It remains to be seen who is "right."

If the fans aren't happy, they don't go to games at USBA,and the team won't prosper!!! |

Would he have led the team in scoring if he were a better player and called up for extended stays in the AHL, like so many other players in the ECHL? Didn't think so. |

Let me see if I can make you understand this Donnie...
I live in a town with one hockey team. That team is an ECHL team. The only thing I give a flying crap about in terms of the money I spend on hockey tickets is ECHL talent in the building where I spend that money. Barret has had a fantasticaly successful ECHL career, and leading the team in scoring indicates that said career is not over yet.
Finally, Given the choice between a really hot prospect that will light the arena on fire for 5 games and then spend the rest of the season in Milwaukee, or a guy that NEVER takes a shift off, is a benefit to the community, and will likely play every game for the home team... As a fan I'll take that latter guy 100% of the time.
I understand how the AA league works Donnie, and I also understand that there are ALWAYS roster spots for ECHL caliber contracted players. There was room for Barret. Skalde simply did not want him. THAT could be his undoing. As a new coach, if you let a guy like that go and you damned well better win NOW or the door will be hitting you in the ass sooner rather than later. That applies to every pro sport at every level.
Now you can go back to thinking you understand this stuff better than the rest of us. Have a great day. |

He's not playing due to a contract dispute. He wants a contract but no team in the professional hockey firmament is willing to offer one.

And you KNOW that for a fact Donnie? You KNOW that he is asking around the league for a contract and nobody wants him. You KNOW that it's not a matter of him having a wife and a home here and him not being in a position to go elsewhere (rare for a minor leaguer). You KNOW this?
I betcha don't.

Having a wife and no paycheck puts him in a position to go elsewhere, if the opportunity were there. |

So I'm right. You are speculating and don't KNOW jack squat. Status quo has been achieved.
BTW - I have a house and a wife and I had to turn down a stellar job offer in another state a couple of weeks ago. Wife has a job here she likes alot, and thanks to the economy I'd lose about $30K selling my house. Couldn't take the job.
So plug that into your above logic and see if it still spits out the same result. |

| Wow.....apparently you all don't know about the salary caps, business deals etc. While I really wish Ego would have been back, I have heard first hand from the coach why he is not. It's not for me to tell and if you all REALLY want to know, just ask Skalde and he will tell you! How do you know anything about his personal life to say he would go elsewhere? Get a grip! |
