It was good to see people I had a lot of fun and memorable times with during my days in pro hockey at last night's Cyclones game like Cathy White Lachmann, Bill Davidge, Dan Van Landingham, Wildman Walker, Evansville broadcaster Terry Ficorelli and head coach Rich Kromm, as well as some longtime Cyclones fans such as Benny Smith, Jim Evers and more!
Evansville had a depleted lineup due to injuries and callups and scratched and clawed their way to victory against a Cyclones team that has a number of players that would be in the AHL if it weren't for the NHL lockout.
Even if there hadn't been a lockout, the ECHL has developed into a legitimate AA league with guys on each team that have a shot to one day play in the NHL. It's good hockey. More Cincinnati sports fans need to forget the label (minor league) and give it a shot, give it a try. |

Good point, Donnie. Hamilton County built a $450,000,000 stadium for a minor league football team, so fans shouldn't hold anything against the Cyclones for playing in a AA league.
Cyclones shouldn't have lost that game, but Evansville took advantage of their opportunities. The GWG was a great shot. Zoltan was screened and he shot it into the only open space there was. |

The Bengals have been in the playoffs two of the last three years and with a win Sunday at Kansas City would be back in the hunt to make it again this year. They have some of the best young talent in the NFL in Andy Dalton, AJ Green, Jermaine Gresham, Gino Atkins, and these guys are going to keep getting better. It would surprise nobody around the NFL if the Bengals became serious Super Bowl contenders within the next season or two. They're on the cusp of something special. History, however, will keep everyone on the pessimistic side until it happens. |

Yes, January 6, 1991 sure is a lot to rally around. The winning tradition is overwhelming. The success is intoxicating.

The Bengals have qualified for the playoffs more recently than the Cyclones. |

Only because they hired a guy you claim to be such a great coach. On that point I obviously disagree... |

Correct. And they have the same amount of playoff wins. |

Checked San Antonio's record so far this season. If you flip the overall standings upside down the Rampage are in first place. |

Nice try Don, but nowhere did I say anything about Chuck. I've simply not seen anything in skaldes coaching resume that convinces me that he is anything more than a .500 coach, at best. I thought that when they hired him, and my thinking remains unchanged. Do I hope he proves me wrong and the Clones and Clones can get back to winning & being competitive - sure, and I'll be among the first to say I was wrong. But I don't see that happening. |

Checked the ECHL standings lately, Joe? It seems to be happening.

The Bengals have qualified for the playoffs more recently than the Cyclones.
The Bengals also have the most jail time and criminal history than any sports team in Cincinnati.

Of course I have Don, and so far it's not bad. But even I (since I never played the game nor worked in a team front office, I have to be the least knowing of us all, no?) could put a team in front of foster they way he's played so far and get wins. The real test will be how he does when foster not in there and he has to generate more scoring offensively to offset the drop off in net. So far he's 0-2 in that scenario. |

The team you would be able to put together would go 0-72-0-0 no matter who you had between the pipes. |

Leave it to you Don to miss the point and go for the cheap shot instead. Facts are they went 0-3 without Foster, then won tonight with him back in, and essentially the same roster. |

You're emotionally involved as a Cyclones fan. I can understand why you get frustrated when goalies let in soft goals or make mistakes that costs the team games. But it's a development league, and watching the players develop and get better in the essential parts of the game is what interests me more than the team's record. I see a guy like Hazen and what he's doing better than last year and that's what's fun for me to watch.
Foster is far and away the better goalie. Today. But given a chance to play and develop -- which is what the ECHL is now all about -- a year or two from now that might not be the case. Give the kid a chance to get acclimated to the North American game before writing him off. |

| Obviously the move to put Foster back in to quarterback the power play jump started the offense. It wasn't until the 3rd tonight when Foster was really put under pressure and he let in 2 on 12. The big story tonight was 2/5 on the power play which was the difference in the game. |
