He may have played better in giving up two goals than in the games in which he posted shutouts, facing more quality scoring chances.

Coaches, scouts and GM's evaluate a goalies performance based on the number of quality scoring chances they faced rather than how many shots the game sheet and scoreboard says they faced.

Case in point: During the 2000-01 season, Jean-Sebastien Giguere was named the first star after posting a shutout. After the game, the head coach, Mike Babcock, asked who picked the stars. He wanted to know why Giguere was one of the stars, noting he only faced two quality scoring chances in the game.

A few weeks later, Giguere gave up three goals and wasn't named one of the stars. Babcock wanted to know why he wasn't the first star since he was the reason the team won with a number of stops on great chances by the opposition.

Babcock has since gone on to earn an acknowledged reputation as the best coach in the National Hockey League.

And as I stated in this thread, the only way he gets another NHL opportunity is due to injury.

For one I understand Donnie's point, Garon is out but they dont think its serious.
However, Ceddy has proven himself at the AHL level to at least get a shot somewhere, and when people produce when someone is injured, that is the time for the opportunity
