Not a great time of year to start slumping Cyclones!!

Pretty sure the #1 seed is out of reach now, and if they don't right the ship soon they'll be looking at a #3. Reading and Gwinett both appear to be pouring it on, while the Clones take the week off.

Didn't catch the game last night. Was it defense, or tired goalie,.... or both?

Two games lost in a row is a slump???? Losing two games to the other best two teams in the conference on their ice by one goal is a slump?

Gwinett is three points behind while we have two games more to play than they do. 92 points is what we need for #2 seed which means 4 points in 5 games assuming Gwinett wins all three and our last three games are against Orlando and Evansville.

Only took 2 days after this post for them to lock up at least that #2 spot.

Well, I'd consider losing 5 out of 6 as a slump. It's not setting a good tone going into the playoffs. And this power play is horrible! That needs to get straightened out or else it's going to haunt them in the playoffs.

Did you consider, there may be a loss of intensity now that they're in? I hope at this point, they are saving themselves for the games that matter.

Yes, I did. But for most of those games they still had #1 Conference seed to play for. Also, once you become complacent, it's awfully difficult to flip the intensity switch. Perhaps they can regain some momentum this weekend with the final two games.

Kind of my point all along. They may have locked up a playoff spot, but you're still fighting for home ice advantage throughout the playoffs, and a better matchup in the first round. Not a good time to get complacent.

I agree with Reggie Dunlop, it's really hard to put the gas back down after you've taken your foot off for a week or two. Yeah, they lost to some of the better teams in the Conference, but those are precisely the teams you have to play and beat in the playoffs. They've had one win in the last week, not really looking primed for a playoff run unless Coach has been resting his top lines.

I'm also concerned that our #1 goalie might be getting tired since he hasn't had a day off in forever, and unless Foster comes back, will have to carry the whole load in the playoffs.

Thought they played Gwinett and Florida tough in the first game. Orlando they outshot Orlando 32/17 and got stoned by Killeen in their 4th game in 90 hours. Lets see what they look like this weekend before the Cincinnati panic button gets pushed

I don't think it's panic, just facts. In the playoffs, wins count. Not SOG, etc. Plus, those teams were good litmus tests going into the playoffs and the Cyclone didn't pull too many points. It's one thing to assert your will against a team like Evansville, it's another to do it against formidable teams. Perhaps there is something going on behind the scenes that we're unaware of (resting players, new system work, etc). However, it would be nice to get Houser a bit of a break and have a solid tandem going in. I assume Foster will be back at some point.

The playoff roster will likely look a little different than what was on the ice this past weekend. Not worried about it at all. Milwaukee is in position to possibly make the playoffs, but San Antonio is likely out. Pacan, Birkholz, McFarland, Wilson, OH, Hazen, and Foster are all guys on that San Antonio roster right now that have played enough games to be eligible for the ECHL playoffs. You also have Pelech in Peoria. Any of those guys coming back makes a big difference in offensive firepower. Adding a few of them makes this a tough team to beat.

Even if we get a bunch of the SA guys back, their season isnt over until 4/20, so it would be after the 1st round of the ECHL playoffs. Really hope we dont end up running into Zapolski - surely his hot streak has to end but I dont want to risk it.

Agreed. His numbers are ridiculous. 1.64 GAA and .943 save percentage in 37 games. Frightening!

Riley Gill has been even better since Reading found him languishing in the SPHL. I don't know why he couldn't find an ECHL spot all year but he has put Reading back in a strong position. At least we wont face him in the first round. Looks like either SC, Greenville, or Toledo.

Funny schedule for the first round with AAHHHAH rotation. Was there a conflict at USBA?
