I didn't see anything? Did anyone else see what happened?

Cincinnati’s Aubin fined
Cincinnati’s Mathieu Aubin has been fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Playoff Game #D-5, Toledo at Cincinnati, on April 13.
Aubin is fined under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline, for careless use of his stick in the third period of the game.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

I was equally surprised by this. I didn't see 9 do anything that would have been egregious enough to earn a fine.

He took out a guy's legs from behind late in the game while the puck was nowhere close to them. I thought he might get suspended for it.

I just went back and looked at it on America One. It was right at the end of the game. The puck was in the corner of the Clones defensive zone. Aubin hit Coatzee in the back of the knees with his stick out in front of the goal. It was definitely deserving of a fine at a minimum. Coatzee immediately dropped to the ice and appeared to be hurt pretty bad.

You mean hurt like a soccer player after getting tripped? I've never seen Aubin participate in that type of activity before, unless i'm not paying close enough attention, i've just not seen alot of things get under his skin in the past. i'm not approving of his actions however for Aubin to behave like that my guess is Coatzee got away with something that ticked off Aubin. I'm sure the event looked alot worse then it really was. |

He might not be on an injured reserve list, but he definitely felt that shot he took. Aubin hit him baseball bat style right in the back of the knees. It wasn't a love tap for sure.

not defending Aubin, cooler heads must prevail. Baseball style or not, love tap or not, please don't think Coatzee was innocent. That's hockey, maybe next time, assuming Coatzee wasn't innocent, will rethink his method of play.

I realize the series is over, but what about the Toledo player that looked like he took an identical Crosby puck to the face?

GFD28, he came back later that period and played the rest of the game. Not sure what the extent of the injury was, but he was back in action.
