Good case... something like that could keep the fire lit under our team... I doubt he will be wanting to fling sticks at refs anymore though LOL |

Another good point: CHL teams are pretty much independently ran, while ECHL teams average at least one move a day during the season, and the ECHL is a revolving door league... so if, say, a call IS made to Terry Ruskowski... hes going to either decide on being complacent with the "my way, my style" thing he can get away with coaching Quad City, or face the challenges of the ECHL with not knowing if your going to be able to have your star scorer the day after a hat trick... unless that guy is a Cyclones-only contracted player...

Here's a name to throw out - Louis Mass. Been an assistant coach for the Alaskan Aces for the last three years and a four year man playing at Bowling Green. Defense by trade. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=33802 Maybe new blood from the west coast would be a good change if our affiliates don't have a problem. Bring back McDonald as an assistant even though both are defense geared. |

Who would want to have a coach from a team that only knows how to beat eight weak teams? Everyone knows its Alaska, occasionally Idaho, and then the other teams blow... dont let the numbers fool you, the Western Conference sucks... There is a reason why the Eastern Conference is the more dominating conference. To pun a little Spanish, "No Mass" |

One of the problems with the west is they do play all the same teams over and over. In the East, the more physical northern teams give us the practice on the tough side while the southern teams tend to be more speed and finess. I brought up Mass because his Bowling Green connection gives him mid-west connection and coaching for Alaska gives him a background of winning program with experience of a traveling team. |

bags, a legit argument could be said for his BG connections... but the meat of his entire assistants career has been coaching against eight other teams... I feel weird about the idea of sticking him in a spot where he has to deal with both sides of hockey... If they hire MacDonald, maybe he can bring Mass in and he can learn about the East side, and Mass could perhaps teach MacDonald a thing or two on how to mix East style with West... im probably talking out of my butt here though |

I could live w/ that . I just was looking at some of the other assistant coaches and thought maybe one from the west would give a different feel. Also Alaska is probably the closest playing style to the northern east teams. Brought up head coach because assistant would be a lateral move. |

Don't get me wrong, he is a great idea... Louis Mass would make a good head coach here if he is willing to learn the east system... that is what MacDonald is good for... plus he is the strength and conditioning coach for the Aces, and we are a high tempo defensive style team... a little extra horsepower couldnt hurt us... |
