i can't speak for why dayton's attendance was better back in the days at hara, but as far as the cyclones go, in the ealry echl days the 'clones were the only game in town and the fans came out. the 'clones eventually moved up to the IHL and play improved over the "goon it up" style of the early echl, and fans came out even when the ducks were around. when the IHL folded and the 'clones went back to the echl, many fans remembered the old echl and never gave the new echl a chance. the fans became ducks fans and somehow became very loyal to the robinson's over at the gardens. the are plenty of hockey fans still left in cincinnati, but for whatever reason they feel if the robinson's are not involved then it is not worth going to see. there could be a junior aaa team playing at the gardens and 1500 people would show up and they would all scream about how junior aaa hockey is a higher level than the echl.

the way i see it there are between 3500 and 6000 hockey fans in the greater tri-state area. about 45% are cyclones fans, 45% are ducks/robinson fans and the left over 10% just want to see hockey. it really isn't much different from the comparison someone to new york and the yankees and the mets or the cubs and the white sox. sure if the robinson's give up on trying to get another team of some sort at the gardens, maybe the 'clones bring some of those fans back across the fence. i think it is more important to promote the sport and bring in new fans and the team has a long way to go. as far as dayton goes, they have the media coverage and a solid, gritty, determined team. i can't figure out why they aren't putting up attendance numbers like they were at hara.

I can't get over this feeling that just because it's hockey That "I" or "we" would just say "what the Hell, I'll go" remember its a rivalry, can't stand Dayton. its been said before, ask a Cubs fan if the love the Whitesox? how about the Islanders about the Rangers? If you win it all, Good....If you lose it all...Great!!!!!

You act like I sent you a personal invitation, which I didn't, You act like I asked you to cheer for our team, which I didn't.

I remember my dad taking me to see the Clones and Bombers play at Hara back in the 91-92 season and seeing a playoff game there when we swept Dayton that year. The crowds were loud and rowdy and everyone seemed to have a good time. I remember seeing a rat run across the restroom floor. I loved going there to see a game as I did the Gardens when the Clones were there. My love for hockey began on opening night 1990 with the Cyclones. It seems like since both teams moved it just isnt the same. I know a lot of the problem in Cincinnati is because of the divided fan base(which is a bunch of crap that needs to end) but as for Dayton I dont know what happened.

I know it would be expensive, but I would love to see a heavy drape stretched
across the one end to make a "U" shaped upper/lower seating and the drape would
help keep the sound into the playing area. The main problem with all ECHL teams
in attendance is real simple-an extra $5 on all levels of ticket prices. Add
inflated costs of parking and concessions and it's not a cheap night out at
a minor league sport. Even the Dayton fans can probably agree that a full house
even at a lower price will mean higher value for ads and more concession sales
and better coverage in the media.By the way Dayton, if you do win the title it
would be great if the cup could make a road trip to Cinci next year.Granted we
will have to dine on crow that night, but you seemed to have wanted it this year
more than we did.

one nice thing about the nutter center is the free parking. i'm not sure if they did it throughout the whole season (i seem to remember paying to park back in early january). unfortunately, USBA does not own or operate the the parking garages, so getting free parking would be tough. when it all adds up it does get expensive, especially if you're taking the family out to a game. personally, i liked the 9, 12, 18 dollar ticket structure from the last season. the $12 starting price is a bit high and if lowered i'm sure teams would pull more people in. it makes sense to have lower prices especially when trying to rebuild the fan base.

Jericho, I seem to be piling up on you, I don't even know you, sorry. I'm not the kinda of guy that can cheer on a rival, My reasons are.....If the Everblades really beat up on the bombers and you beat us in seven...I think that maybe we might not have stood a good chance against the Everblades. Nevertheless all this bickering aside, it seems as though you are quite passionate about your Bombers, and that I respect. Good luck on your run to the Cup

Elvis,
I hear ya about the fans. I think that prices do have something to do with it. The big problem is the teams have to pay the arena moneys for each game. When people aren't coming to games, they lose money, but still have that bill to pay at the end of the game. I'm thinking the teams are the ones getting the shaft in the end. Dayton and Cincinnati have the fans to support their respective teams. The teams just have to find them, because they all went and hid somewhere.

bags,
If we win it, I'm not sure if it would be cordial for The Bombers to bring the cup to Cincy. I'd think it would be rubbing it in if they did. But hey, who knows? The Bombers and Cincy were so close in their game play this year, that I don't think their series came down to who was better, but more to the point, who scored the winning goal. Of the 19 games they played this season, every game was a great game.

SCUBA,
That last post was CLASS ACT.

I want to see a championship round game and I am not going to Florida to see it. I hope you win tonight Dayton so I can come up next week and see the ultimate battle for the cup.

Get Clones instead of Clunkers.

Any of you Dayton people planning a trip to Idaho?

If we lose, no. If we win, no. If the game goes to 5 OT's, tied 8-8, and Berkhoel scores the winning goal as the buzzer sounds, on a 5 on 3 penalty kill, SURE!

P.S. Jericho and SCUBA need to get a room.

R_L, don't do that to me. With this year's Bombers and all the craziness, including worst-to-first, it isn't out of the realm of possibility.

As evenly matched as the Cyclones and Bombers were this season, I'm sure we could easily be talking about a Cyclones Game 7 with Florida tonight. Could someone turn Jeeebus from west to south and beam some good vibes down to Estero so we can watch 2 or 3 more hockey games in SW Ohio this year?

Hakeedude, I don't know about that Kumbaya thing. Could be worth a 2-minute holding and possibly a 10-minute misconduct. We'd rather act like we dislike all of ya. It's better for the rivalry!
