Give the "Fan Pack" out as a promotion itself to everyone walking in the door! Make it "trackable" next season...
If they could get Fans to blanket the Tristate area with this type of material... I think it could Help.
That's an awesome idea. Other redundant things, like yard signs and flyers also help to get the word out. I am at fault for not having one in my yard, but they ARE available. That could become a project for all of us over the summer. Like you said... BLANKET THE AREA! |

Anyway, as for doing our part of promoting, I live in Oxford some of the time going to school at Miami. Im sure you guys know Hockey is a BIG thing to us. Because of this I have been able to get people to come down to the games and they enjoy it. But, what I have really been thinking about was if there was something we could do with both the teams. The reason I say this is that where ever Miami's team goes, a lot of the students follow.
I had asked twister on facebook once about if there was ever a way for Miami and Cincy to play a game against each other, not even regulation maybe for charity or just for fun but hes right when he said that its not really possible because the ECHL team should always be better then the college team. Still I believe there is something that could be done with this.
I just know that having met you guys, having met some of the players and having met coach and seeing how nice everyone way and down to earth they are for the most part, that really makes me wanna support the team as much as I can. So with this "Fan Pack" idea, count me in!
First off, I agree with being confused as to what the "Fan Club" actually does. Not trying to be rude, I just don't know. But to me, that is/should be part of their call... raising support. I am willing to help in that aspect, but none of us need to be part of the club to do that... we can all do our own efforts as well.
I like the Miami idea... maybe they could do something like they did with the Firemen's game... have a REDHAWK night with things during intermission, and then Miami could have some sort of scrimmage game after the Cyclones play for the fans to stick around and watch.

| Ok, you guys want a story idea? Here's one off the top of my head. The Cyclones live in Mason, right? Well the way I understand it, the fan club pays for a lot of their expenses. Why not do a story on that? Enquirer wouldn't run it but the Mason Community Press almost certainly would. You can't loose sight of singles when you're trying to go for a home run. If they could pull off having stories like that printed every week, it would be a LOT of coverage over time. |

| But you guys see what I'm saying... it's not about being in one small paper. It's about being in many small papers often. I'm not at all implying that having them in a local paper will bring in 1,000 people per night, I am saying that it could bring in 100... and that's 100 per community. Those 100 people may enjoy themselves and come to several more games.. next time they may bring 3 or 4 friends. This quickly adds up to more people in the stands, more general interest, and yes.. more coverage. |

| I like the idea of submitting articles to local papers. I live in harrison and i know our paper will run pretty much anything. We also have a town magazine that runs. Each person in their particular area could write an article to their local paper each week. I think, at least with my paper, you can get your own column if you can write well enough. Try that too. Going off of jevers idea.. maybe USBA could take a page out of Kings Islands book and have a bring a friend free day for season ticket holders. Adding incentive to buy a package and if you bring someone who has never seen a game before and they return you could get some kind of prize. Those people coming back would probably offset money lost by giving away a few free tickets |

Does anyone have any suggestions for which newspaper would reach the Montgomery area? Sorry, I'm from northern KY so I'm not 100% familiar with each Cincinnati-area neighborhood... |

The Community Press distributes to many areas under different names. They may include Montgomery but I'm not sure I know they include Northwest Press, Delhi Press and 25 other throughout this area.

go to this web site and look under community press & recorder. it lists all the local papers and area they cover.
They may print an article sent in to them like you are talking about. The Cyclones have had a few advertisements in their paper over they year. |

| One thing that works in the music industry and other areas are street teams...Make flyers large posters get enthusiastic people in clones garb and hand out ticket/game/promo info to college students at malls at other shopping centers and even at larger business/commercial parks (where allowed)There are even people who do signs and stand out and flip them and jump around and get a lot of attention (I saw it on current TV) you could even go as far as to set up little games to attract the crowd. There are a lot of great ideas but handing out dated flyers after the games just doesn't do it. |

| i took a bunch of schedules to school and slid them into peoplesm agendas lol but i bought a cyclones lanyard and i wear it at work... ive been talking to people alot about them i twll them there doing great and they want to know more i write www.cycloneshockey.com on thier receipt and hand it to them so i have putting in some effort!!! haha |

Yea i think something like that could work. i mean i know it's not exactly the same but when i was in college the players used to stand on corners and advertise for their respective teams. i mean i know the guys really cant do that but there was ALWAYS advertisement (for the hockey team in particular) whether it be flyers hanging up, table tents in bars or someone physically handing out info and the arena was sold out just about every weekend. keep in mind this was CLUB hockey....
also when we were in reading earlier in the year there were yard signs all over so that might be something else to consider (or reconsider since i know there were yard signs handed out a the beginning of the season...) |
