This is going to become an interesting topic, question is do we want 8000 fans to watch a Clones game and increase the teams long term security or would we rather see 1000 fans and assure ourselves no bottle throwers, cannot say i've seen any bottles lobbed on a wed when we barely broke the 600 fans mark. I from one enjoyed going to the concessions and returning back under 3 minutes. now it takes almost 20.
The beach ball, I would say that that started by a Clone fan of old. It happened at almost every IHL Clone game and no one confiscated it then. I'm simply pointed out that the atmosphere from the last two nights were intoxicating and to devout so many posts to bottles and beach balls stagger me. I'm afraid folks that if we want 8000 fans, it's sad to say, a hand full of them are going to lob bottles. What i'm more surprised with though is the number of Clone fans that think that a few goofballs that throw bottles on the ice defines us as a whole, I'm certain that not every one in oakland throws batteries and not everyone in cleveland lobs snowballs.
It's funny though for me to see the arena staff, typically in the past they have just stood there half asleep during the regular season where we had 1000 or so fans. A few of them have been walking around half looking like a deer in headlights. The 100 year old ushers are still sleeping.

Of course it doesn't define us as a whole. But what do you think most Cincinnatians' perception of Cleveland fans is? And do most people on this board post about how fine the Dayton fans are, despite the few who can't control themselves when it comes to a hockey rivalry?

No-most of us define them by their goofballs.

I for one know that not all Cleveland fans are the same, I don't base the behavior of a few Dayton fans to define them as a whole...I have met many more polite friendly dayton fans then not. That is my perception. if I went to cleveland game and EVERYONE treated me poorly then my preception of Clevleland fans would be bad.

I saw the (between the benches) camera guy holding up his camera filming a few of the offenders throwing the bottles. I wonder if they got it on tape and could do something about it ? It wasn't on the jumbotron but maybe it went upstairs ?

The really pathetic thing, I saw a guy a few rows in front of me lob a beer bottle onto the ice. About two minutes later he bends down to pick up his 1 - 2 year old kid. Jeez, isn't that setting a good example to raise a fine upstanding kid? UGH!

Kudos on getting the beach ball....BUT, why didn't you report the bottle thrower? Not doing so makes you as guilty as the one who threw it....

It was after the game of course and next to impossible to get to security fast enough to report him.

This is the finals of the freakin playoffs! Do you want some dumba$$ hurting the Cyclones chances of winning because you want to throw a beach ball, etc. around? And how would you feel if stuff being thrown toward the ice didn't make it quite that far and was hitting you and the people around you as well? That's why I'm so pissed off about that kind of behavior!

We sit in section 108 and four people in that section decided to throw things on the ice after the game. Security was on the spot even before they could leave their seats. Kudos to the security people. BTW, the "F***IN' A$$HOLE" (that's what I called him) in front of our seats was at Saturdays game and threw a beer bottle on the ice. All he could say was my bad.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Of course I don't want chances hurt, I'm just saying the beach ball thing has been around a long time, i've seen it a dozen times at the Gardens when the Clones were there and at the Crown and suddenly it's a bad thing? look like I said earlier, we can either have 1000 faithful fans or 8000 with an occasional dumbass. We bitched when butts were not in the seats and now the butts are there and now we complain about the rowdys. I didn't come up with dollar beer night I would suppose that next time dollar beer night comes around...for all the arena managmnent that is here reading posts I would suggest you beef up the security staff

It seems like this thread has gotten enough run, the other thread seems to have ended. hopefully we can be more vigilant and finding the bottle throwers if it comes back to Cincy, I'm still for the beach ball though but i'll be damned if i'm the one to start it

I'm certainly no fan of the beach ball thing, but I do remember that back at the Gardens and I see your point. It does get the average joe fan involved in the game.

However, at that game, Wildman made a point of warning everyone that we'd incur a penalty if anything reached the ice. I think the reason most of us are pissed about it is that they did it anyway without concern that it could adversely affect the game.

When Wildman made the announcement about NOT throwing things on the ice, people actually booed.
