David Desharnais is on pace for a 60-point season (17 goals, 43 assists in 82 games). Very credible season.
On the subject of former Cincinnati players, former AHL Ducks Joffrey Lupul (Toronto) and Pierre Parenteau (NY Islanders) are both having really good years, ranking among the top 20 in scoring.
Lupul was a high first-round pick and is finally playing like one. He's taking the game a lot more serious after suffering a career-threating back injury a couple years ago with Anaheim.
Parenteau has developed into a solid player in the NHL.
Good to see Cincinnati guys doing well in the NHL. |

Desharnais now tied for 16th in scoring among centers and 43rd overall in the NHL. He is tied in points with Tyler Seguin who was the 2nd overall pick in the 2010 draft and is 2 points ahead of $9 million/year Alex Ovechkin. At $750,000 this season, he is one of the 3 best values for $ per point in the NHL.
Desharnais is signed for next season at $950,000 and will become a Restricted Free Agent for the 2013-14 season. If he scores 65-70 points next year, he's probably looking at a bare minimum of $10 million over 4 years ($2.5m/yr). The yet to be negotiated CBA could change things somewhat. In any case, not bad for a guy who made about $400 per week in Cincinnati before he signed his Hamilton contract.

| Desharnais' 51 points puts him 5 points better than $7.7 million per year center Vincent Lecavlier of Tampa Bay and 6 points better than former Cincinnati Mighty Duck now Anaheim Duck $5.75 million center Ryan Getzlaf. |

Might have more points, but doesn't make him a better player than Lecavlier and Getzlaf. But as a wise man once said, you can always tell a Cyclones fan, but you cannot tell them much. |

Desharnais has 30 points in his last 30 games (9 goals 21 assists).
He is tied for leading scorer on the Canadiens with linemate Max Pacioretty with 51 points for the season and his +9 is best on the team. |

33 points in last 32 games (10 goals 23 assists).
Game tying goal with 5 seconds left in game last night vs. Buffalo. Named 2nd star in 3-2 loss with goal and assist.

The beat goes on. Desharnais scores again and gets the GW in SO. Named 1st Star. Now with 34 points 11g 23 a) in last 33 games.
During this streak, he's on a pace which would yield him 27 goals over the course of a full season. I didn't see him scoring goals at this pace in the NHL.

The recent streak of Desharnais (34 points in 33 games) if projected over the course of an 82 game season would yield him 85 points.
This would place him 5th or 6th in final scoring in this year's NHL.
**I understand that if other player's best 33 game streaks were projected over the course of a full season that Desharnais wouldn't end up that high** Still, it's an amazing pace for a guy with his humble professional beginnings. |
