So what do you do with Aubin, Eves, Pelech and Lewis when they return from IR? Nice problem to have I guess. Some of these affiliated players like Megan might be up soon

Got the answer for two of them. Aubin and Pelech traded to Utah!!!!. Ballsy move. Lets hope it turns out and best of luck to both of them in Utah. They certainly played hard for us here.

Grizzlies acquire Aubin, Pelech from Cincinnati

November 7, 2013

West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced that the team has acquired forwards Mathieu Aubin and Michael Pelech from the Cincinnati Cyclones in exchange for future considerations.

The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League and the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Aubin, 27, served as the Cyclones captain from December 2011 to May of 2013 and won two Kelly Cup championships in Cincinnati (2008 and 2010). In addition, he won a Calder Cup championship with Hamilton of the AHL in 2009. In 346 career ECHL games with Cincinnati and Bakersfield, Aubin has totaled 309 points (125g-184a). He was named the ECHL’s Plus Performer of the Year in 2011-2012 with a +25 rating. Last season, the 2005 draft pick of Montreal, had 56 points (18g-28a) in 67 games with Cincinnati.

Pelech, 24, has spent the last two years in Cincinnati, where he totaled 106 points (29g-77a) in 110 games. He was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He played against Utah with the Ontario Reign from 2008-10. He played 18 games last year in the AHL with Connecticut, Peoria and Worcester.

Interesting comment Randy. Did you not care for them or what? I say good for them because maybe Utah needs their skills & work ethic.

I'll just say it has nothing to do on the ice.

I'm kind of surprised there is no mention of this trade on Cycloneshockey.com yet. Aubin was our captain, you would think they would at least mention trading the captain away.

I thought I would share the reaction my 4 year old had to the Trade of his "Favorite Hockey Boy" Aubi.

ME: "Jayden. Aubi is not going to play this year with us."
Jayden: Crying "But He's My favorite Hockey boy! is he hurt?"
ME: "No he is going to play for anther team this year."
Jayden: Still sobbing. "So his legs don't hurt no more"
Me: "No I thinks his legs are better. He is just going to play with a different team."
Jayden. Happy And Smiling. "Well at least he can play. I'm happy if he can still play hockey. I would be sad if his legs were still hurt. I can still cheer for Loooch..."

The kid is wise beyond his years...

I don't know what went on off the ice, but I'm glad the Cyclones won't have to face these two players!

They did on the facebook page but not the website. Regardless... they are trying to keep it as low key as possible for a reason.

I had a sneaky suspicion it wasn't injury related.....still don't know the story but new coach and suddenly several hard working players on the IR? We'll never know the true story. So who's the new "C"?

They reach more of the people that follow the team on their FB page than website.

Best of luck to Pelech and Aubin!!!

Aubin won 2 cups and led us deep in a quest for a third last season. He averaged nearly a point per game over his 7 years with the club. Pelech was a point per game guy who could get physical when needed. This trade leaves two very large pair of skates to fill. In fact, they can't be filled. There is now a very deep void in the roster.

Simon is taking a huge gamble. While he's without a doubt making it "his team", he's getting rid of two most proven and productive players on his roster, players who will almost be impossible to replace. Injuries and call ups will happen, probably sooner rather than later.

A 6-0 start may have given Simon more confidence in his coaching abilities and roster than would be prudent. This move could backfire big time.

Aubin's history with the Cyclones dated back to the return from the suspension of the franchise in 2006-07. He holds many team ECHL records and his place in ECHL Cyclones history is unmatched. When the time comes, his number should be hanging from the rafters of US Bank Arena. Over the past 8 seasons, no player has contributed more to the success of the franchise.
